I’ve got a 99 ELPTO that I would like looked over at the beginning of open water. It’s been running slightly rough at low rpms and I haven’t been able to fix it with the easy fixes I’ve done to it. Any recommendations? Would like to know I’m not getting ripped off and getting good work done.

Country View Marine between Stacy and North Branch are good guys.
They aren’t shade tree mechanics nor a ritzy dealer…..and they know their stuff
January 21, 2021 at 8:01 am #2008065Prince Bait & Marine north of Milaca is good but it might be too far for you. I’ve hauled mine there from the west metro when the line at the local shops were too long and they had problems fixed in a couple days.
January 21, 2021 at 8:13 am #2008069I will second country view marine. I know the family and they are knowledgeable people.
Mjl outdoors is a solo guy who works out of his pole barn in stacy. Does great work at good prices. He does what ever I cant
January 21, 2021 at 9:18 am #2008087I would recommend Supreme Marine in North Mpls – https://suprememarinemn.com/
January 21, 2021 at 9:21 am #2008088Roberts Marine has always done a nice job for me, you might want to give them a shout.

I will balance this out with a fair warning. These guys treated me like absolute garbage. I was a repeat customer until it went bad. Took them over a month to do a repair on my Merc when they promised a 1 week turnaround. They did more work than requested without my authorization, including custom fabrication of some crappy cowling mounts. I never received an estimate despite requesting that before the work was started. Buyer beware at Supreme Marine.

Iowaboy, he’d probably do it even up for a hot tip on a good bullhead bite.
Seriously where I take mine will probably be to far of a drive.

This is kind of what I’m looking for. I had a retired Merc mechanic in White Bear that usually did any work I needed. He knew everything and would hand you a beer when you dropped your boat off or picked it up. Unfortunately passed away unexpectedly last fall.
Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. I will be calling a few of them.

That’s fair.
My experience – 2006 115hp Opti Max, the Dumb design of the fuel filter cover, looked like a turret on a castle. And the “Tool” was $20.00. Well the tabs just bent over from trying to take it off, called Supreme, they said at least one week as it was fall and busy time. Went to drop the boat off, mechanic came out and said let me see what you got going on, in about 20 mins he had the thing off. Bought a new filter from them & the top and off I went.
