I gotta K on the Kitties to cover 3.5
Good luck, looking good!
I have a $50 spot on Lions at -3.
December 5, 2024 at 9:26 pm #2303316Campbell sure is a gambler. That’s twice now he went for a TD on 4th down and converted. Guy has balls, I’ll give him that.

Brass ones at that!

December 5, 2024 at 10:34 pm #2303323Good game Packers! Tough loss but a well coached and played game. Gosh dangit.
December 5, 2024 at 10:55 pm #2303325I’ll take the push on my wager.
There was an opportunity for the Pack to fold up shop and they didn’t against a damn good team on the road. Josh Jacobs is a beast. They needed another explosive play or big stop to ultimately pull off the upset.
The Lions are banged up and are still getting it done. I just don’t see them losing at home in the playoffs coming off a bye week as the #1 seed with most guys back.
December 6, 2024 at 12:10 am #2303326The Lions won by a whisker. I’ve got to give them credit. I did not think they would win, especially after GB took the lead. Any team with an above-average offense performance has a shot at beating the Lions in a shoot-out. Does anyone think GB leaves this loss thinking their team has no shot in Detroit in the playoffs? They would gladly take a rematch.
I don’t see the Lions being the #1 Seed. They are beatable in all of their remaining games vs. The Bills, @Bears, @49ers, Vikes. It would not shock me if they lost 2 or 3 of them.

I think the only way they don’t make the Super Bowl is if Dan Campbell somehow loses 1, but likely 2 MAJOR gambles in a playoff game. On the field, matchup-for-matchup, I don’t think they can be beat. And I’m not knocking Campbell, as he says it’s their identity and what got him there, but if some of those bold gambles turn into costly epic fails, that’s how they’ll lose.

Same here! Packers fans can be pissed at me I guess because when I started watching they were winning and then Detroit instantly got a TD.
December 6, 2024 at 7:38 am #2303341They are beatable in all of their remaining games vs. The Bills, @Bears, @49ers, Vikes.
I could see Buffalo beating them. The Bears and Niners, no. I think Chicago and SF are both finished and they’re just going through the motions at this point.
With the loss, it looks very likely now that the Packers finish as the 6 seed and will play whoever wins the NFC West in the wild card round – at this point it could be Seattle, Arizona, or the Rams.
ThunderLund78Posts: 2662December 6, 2024 at 7:43 am #2303342As a Vikes fan, I guess I was pulling for Detroit, only because the Lions winning the division seems the most likely outcome and I wanted a little breathing room between us and the pack for playoff seeding. But it was a really good game between two REALLY good football teams and it went about as it should. I do think the better team won, but I think the Vikes will have their hands full with both teams going down the final stretch. Either way, we’re all likely going the playoffs and we’ll sort it out then!
December 6, 2024 at 8:16 am #2303353Packers are going to be a handful in the coming years.
1st and 2nd rounders all over the field on the defensive side of the ball.
Young talented skill position players at the WR and TE positions and a young QB that seems to on the rise..
December 6, 2024 at 8:19 am #2303355Detroit needs their defense back, what do they have 7 players on IR right now?
December 6, 2024 at 8:32 am #2303361Detroit extended a lot of their capital to win last night. I don’t think they will play as well next week vs. another top team. I gave the Lions a 1/3rd chance of winning last night. Next week vs. the Bills, it drops to 20% chance of winning in BP’s calculations. I slightly favor the Bears over the Lions. The 49ers in SF is a toss-up, and the health status quo Vikes vs. Lions match-up clearly favors the Vikes as things sit, who are proven run stuffers and have all their Offensive weapons. I expect the Lions to falter here at the end. Last night was a classic Pyrrhic victory, in my opinion. Winter is coming to Lion Nation.
December 6, 2024 at 8:54 am #2303371“Man you Viking fans really like to bring up the past, when we are talking about whats happening now…”
This is rich…
“You must be talking about the Vikings. Over 60 years in the NFL with nothing to show for it. hah laugh”
Don’t ruin it Rip, I love having our own real life version of Carl Gerbschmidt on here. Great entertainment!!!
That was a phenomenal game last night, playoff intensity and then some. It looked like they all left a pound of flesh out there, and will be interesting to see who carries some injuries out of that classic Black and Blue division battle. Both teams are pretty banged up already, or very banged up in Detroits case, and injuries still matter despite the Lions winning in spite of them. I think their injury tab will come due in the next few weeks as their schedule stays super physical down the stretch. But sounds like a lot of the IR guys will be back for the playoffs, so I think Dan Campbell is the only thing standing in their way. Great coach, but way too unnecessarily risky. I love going for it on 4th, except when it gives your opponent easy points or potentially sends it to OT when you have an easy FG already. Those are dumb, not tough or stylish.
As for GB Jacobs is a beast, and that defense never stopped hitting. Love had a couple amazing throws, mediocre stats and his body language was terrible all night. Not sure what that’s about, but concerning imo. They will have a punchers chance against anyone.
Big boy football season is here and I frickin love it!!!
December 6, 2024 at 9:29 am #2303377A packer fan talking about Vikings fans not living in the present…. That’s some funny shi7 right there !!!!
December 6, 2024 at 9:37 am #2303379It was great to finally have a decent Thursday night game that didnt end up in a blow out. Not the outcome I wanted for my team but dang Detroit’s offense is fun to watch. Some of the play designs they do is stuff defenses never see with certain routes.
Campbell sure does have some stones but going for it on 4th down all the time last night was why they won.
Side note: Will Zadrius Smith join the Bears next year to be on all 4 NFC North teams?

I was being sarcastic with my comment about Viking fans living in the past but hey maybe if you have won before you would talk about Super Bowls…
December 6, 2024 at 9:41 am #2303382All I can say is if Detroit is still winning games against a team this good with how many players they have out with injuries, watch out if they get health at playoff time. Like others have said, all 3 teams are most likely going to make the playoff. What happens from there we will just have to wait to see. Some rather tough division games left to be played. It should be some great football from here on out
Highbeeze24Posts: 118December 6, 2024 at 9:45 am #2303384Detroit is 6/7 with 4 TD’s against GB on 4th down this season. That’s absolutely unacceptable. With most teams your playing on your heals thinking they want you to jump. The Lion’s have made it very clear, when they line up on 4th down, they’re going for it. One hell of a gutsy call at the end to ice the clock and kick the go ahead. You could just feel it on GB’s final drive. They needed to get six there. The field goal on the road to tie wasn’t going to be enough as the Packers D did not have any answers to slow the Lion’s up in the second half. Heck of an entertaining game between a couple of good clubs.

Dan Campbell is like the polar opposite of MLB managers with their pitching staff decisions, and I’m so here for it. His decisions might be unnecessarily risky and technically dumb, but the vibes are immaculate and it’s hard to argue the results of Dan Campbell’s vibes. Those stupid decisions are part of his secret sauce to getting the extra juice out of every player on the roster.
December 6, 2024 at 12:17 pm #2303432Very many good points there. He made a decision that backfired and cost them big in the NFC Championship game last year, and all of his players said “that’s the style that got us here, why would we stop now?” They’re bought into it as well, it’s the makeup of the whole team.

Meh, while I love the all gas, no brakes attitude there needs to be a balance or you are just a kamikaze on a suicide mission. Last year NFC Championship they were up 17 at half, SF got a FG out of halftime, Detroit marches down to FG range, goes for it and comes up short and the comeback was on. With a 2 score lead you just keep matching points and make it as hard as possible for them to comeback.
Similarly last night, up 3 you don’t go for it at your own 31 and basically guarantee them tying it or going ahead. And the end of game 4th down was a totally unnecessary risk, kick the FG from the 21 with 43 seconds left. That FG distance is probably +95% make, and them having a FG drive in 30-some seconds with no TOs is a miniscule probability, whereas if they come up short on 4th down (or Goff fumbles while tripping) and that game either ends in a L in regulation or goes to OT and it’s a coin flip on winning or losing. His other 4th down risks were much more reasonable, and I like the attitude/decision with it. Balance Kemosabe!
BeastPosts: 1133December 6, 2024 at 1:02 pm #2303437as a packer fan I’m disappointed with the loss, But on the other hand I’m thinking good for the Lions, they have been the doormat for our division for so long they deserve a winning season. I’m not sure what would happen to them if they’re QB goes down or retires, I don’t follow them enough to know who, or what quality they have as the #2.
tswobodaPosts: 8673December 6, 2024 at 1:26 pm #2303440Werm everything you say is right. But it’s all still worth it for those sweet sweet vibes
Also I’m sure I would hate it if I were a Lions fan
