Rodgers was dog crap that season and at least MLF and Gutekunst had the guts to pull the plug. Stop moving the goal posts and just admit your argument was trash. Next time maybe take 2 minutes to verify numbers before posting toast

This part I think everyone here can agree with. At the time maybe didn’t seem like the best decision, but clearly was now. I remember when they wanted to move on from Favre to Rodgers too many years ago and a similar bitterness unfolded.

You could argue that the Jets are the saddest state of a team in the league this season.

    Not quite, Werm.

“Can’t win 7” would equate to 6 or fewer wins.

8 and 9 are both respectively more than 6 or fewer.

I guess I don’t consider 6, 7, 8 or 9 wins very good. But I’ll defer to you as the Mayor of Mediocrity! toast jester

You look at that season and the last 2 with McCarthy and I can’t help but wonder if ARodg performed poorly on purpose. Honestly I think MLF is an ok coach, with a lot yet to be determined. And I’d say the same for KOC. There aren’t a lot of great coaches, Belicheck, Andy Reid, Tomlin, McVay and then at a slightly lower tier due to no SB wins both Harbaughs, Dan Campbell and maybe 1 or 2 others I’m forgetting. KOC, MLF, Demeco Ryan look like they are on their way there, but haven’t arrived yet imho.

Agree, very few GREAT coaches and a lot of good ones. But one of the Harbaughs has a SB, because they played each other in the SB, didn’t they? I think John beat Jim? Or am I totally getting that wrong? Still wouldn’t put either of them in the GREAT category, though.

Yeah the Ravens won a SB with Flacco didn’t they? Wasn’t that John Harbaugh?

Yes, John won 2012 SB. He’s quite comparable to Tomlin. Both have one SB win. Both have 10 seasons of 10+ wins.
Tomlin has .638 winning % regular season, 8-10 postseason. 0 losing seasons. 18 years
John Harbaugh has .618 winning % regular season, 12-10 postseason. Two losing seasons (7-9, 5-11). 17 years

Great point and stats, not sure how I forgot. I’d probably move both Harbaugh’s into the great category due to John’s SB and Jim’s Natty and SB appearance along with both of the body of their careers. Oh and I think Tomlin is severely underrated in the coaching convo’s, no losing seasons over that stretch is wild, and winning with Russell/Fields combo at QB this year might be even more impressive lol

8-9 with an uncoachable QB playing the full season is better than expected.

Tonight is one of the bigger games in TNF history. I think the Packers want/need it more and will pull off a close one. But I’ll still be cheering for the Motor City Kitties!

    I’ve got $ on Detroit -3.

I’ll root for the Packers for sure, but think that there are a few factors working against them that they won’t be able to overcome:

-Ford Field will be rocking, and the “no weather” plays into what Detroit will want to do offensively

-Jaire Alexander, Doubs, and Edgerrin Cooper are all out, and against the best or second best team in football…it takes everyone

***The only way the Pack pulls off the upset, is if they win the turnover battle AND primarily run the ball. Feed Jacobs even if it’s tough sledding early, and hope he punches through on a big run here or there. If Love has to try and throw 35+ times with that noise and defense, it could get ugly.

***If Detroit wins, I think that pretty much slams the door on the NFC North race. They have a lead + the tie breaker over the Vikings for now. They still have the Bills on the slate, but their other games with the depleted 49ers and dysfunctional Bears will be a slam dunk. They’d likely just have to go 1-1 in games against the Vikings and Bills to have the North…and both those games are in Detroit.

I think the Packers will win this game tonight. The kitties are hurting with injuries on the defensive side of the ball, big time. And their starting left tackle is also out.

Detroit could win a shoot out but my money is on Green Bay to cover and win outright.

Wouldn’t you want the Packers to win being a Vikings fan? I’m a dumb Packer fan but it helps the Queens if the Packers win.

    Minnesota is trying something new.

Instead of rooting for the Lions to lose and hoping to host a home playoff game (where they most recently got beaten down by Danny Dimes), they’ve pivoted and now hired him to be a part of the squad and are hoping for a road playoff game to mix things up.

Well I know this may come as a surprise to fans who consider themselves owners, but who I (or you) root for actually has no bearing on who actually wins. Shocking I know, but likely not as shocking as paying $250 for a piece of paper…Secondly, we just need the Lions to lose once (looking at the Bills here) before we play week 18, and then we win out. And C. whoever plays the Pack is my second favorite team, and it’d be rude to root against my 2nd favorite team this week. The ROAR has been Restored, Go Lions!

When did we bring up being owners for questioning why you dont want the Packers to beat the Motor City Kitties? Man you Viking fans really like to bring up the past, when we are talking about whats happening now…

I could never cheer for the Packers to win unless of course it was against Dallas. Only team I hate worse. I actually like the Lions even though they have made some dirty plays the last few years that fanbase has been miserable for so long they need something to cheer for.

I absolutely hate the Bears but if they were playing a team that would help the Packers, I would suck it up and hope they beat whoever.

Now I do love seeing the Lions doing well and if the Packers arent in it this year. I’ll be rooting for them and the Bills to win it all.

Talk about living in a fantasy world thinking the Vikings are going to win out. That has as much chance to happen as the Vikings EVER winning a SB. When you watched last weeks Packer game, those trophies they showed in the Packer HOF were SB trophies, and being a Viking fan I know you have never seen one, much less ever won one. yay smash moon

You are absolutely right. As a Vikings fan, I’m taking the mature and enlightened position. I’m setting aside the traditional animosity and saying we should all do the right thing and admit that it does our team more good if Green Bay actually wins.

Okay, so I hope the teams beat the holy hell out of each other and it’s a total bleep show of a game, but still. Go Pack!

A packers win would be best, but they didn’t even score a touchdown vs detroit in week 9 until garbage time.

As a Vikings fan I find it very unlikely they win out, which would include beating Detroit on the road, so I’d rather they win and create a little more space for that #5 seed. I just don’t see the division crown happening for the purple.

What we’re seeing is the major difference in post season landing spots between college and the NFL. The CFP is making it better, but individual people/ voters have always had a say in who gets to play the big games in college. I love the chaos college rankings create and they make regular season games so much more exciting, but I do like the cut and dry standards in the NFL. They have divisions, you play your division a lot, and those winners get higher seeds.
