GMC 5.3 Engine problems

I am getting a check engine light on my 2017 GMC Sierra 1500. Brought it to a GM certified shop and they said that my injectors are bad and need to be replaced. That said the truck has only 55,000 mile on it and is still under power train warranty, but it is not covered. I found this literature online and it is legit as I have talked to my dealer. The problem is that this is only covered in these certain states that are named for repairs not including MN. My question is does anyone one the difference between a truck sold in MN and the trucks sold in the other states? I called GMC and they said they will call me back (Haven’t heard from them in 3 business days)

At least injectors are easy to replace and don’t cost much. If that is all it takes to fix it I would just do it and be done.

State laws regarding warranties or pollution standards. Likely no difference in the actual vehicle.

Man thats really to bad. But it happens. It would make me turn away if they didn’t fix it on there dime. I would be in that dealership and not leave until they fixed it

Sucks that GM can’t replace them on a case-by-case basis outside of listed states? And I believe those states fine truckers that idle without the clean idle(California)decal?

It’s an emission defect, probably within Federal regs, but not CARB which many states now follow. My Tacoma was in the affected bracket for possibly defective catalytic converter, but they replaced ALL of them regardless.

Did GMC give you a confirmation/claim number? If they did, call them again. I have called in for problems twice. Once the dealer was notified 6 days out of warranty. Was told nothing they could do under warranty. Called GM they would cover half of the claim.
That said both times I was still p offed.

It might be the additives used in the gasoline in those states that makes it apply only to them.

Do you know what engine code it has from a scan tool? If it is running rough it could be a bad O2 sensor, fuel pressure regulator or a few different things

My buddy had bad injectors in his GMC this spring and it took over a month to find 8 of them which I thought was ridiculous.

I think gm started using direct injection in 2014 so the injectors are different than what you are used to.

I had mine replaced last fall on my 16 at 66000. luckily I have a extended warranty because it was a $1500 bill. My light never came on but I could tell something was up because I was only getting 12 miles to the gallon.
