For those of you quoting milage are you doing the math yourselves or relying on what the truck tells you? I had a buddy bragging about his RAM consistantly getting 20 MPG. I asked him to do the math and turns out he was getting closer to 17

My ram computer is always close. If I’m not using my tuner which I rarely put it in a mode unless pulling long distance then my ram will get 17 to 20. Im not nice to my truck. I use the power she gives me and I have a heavy foot.

I finally pulled the plug at the end of april and got my pandemic truck. silverado 1500 ltz crew 6.5 box 6.2 with max pack towing (12000 lbs). Hope I never have to go back to 5.3. 18 to 25 mpg without towing depending on how heavy my foot is 12 to 14 with 185 tour pro sport. Great Truck so far 6500 miles.

Nice! I’m casually looking too. Will probably wait until next year though unless one of those too good to be true deals pops up

    Wow, don’t think I get 18mpg ever with my 08 6.2.

They are hard to find with gm strike then shutdown for covid. the 2020’s have 10 speed tranny. don’t even need to use tow haul on the boat.

I have searching hi and low for a newer used truck and the descepancies in pricing are outstanding. With the troubles I see in models are scary to take the leap in buying anything made the 2000 to now with how expensive these vehicles are to repair. I just want a decent work truck in good shape that won’t break the bank fixing the dang thing. 1ton preferred but 10000 grand for a truck 18 years old is stupid with over 200,000 miles on it.

The newer lt engines are far better than the predecessor ls engines made through 2014. The lt is entirely different and shares no parts with the ls engines. The Lt series has much more torque throughout the rpm range and gets substantially better mileage than the ls.
I would take the newer 5.3 over the previous 6.2 all day long.
