Glue question

I portage a big Jon boat on portage wheels-has worked great for many years but recently I’ve had a problem-the support arms where the portage frame meet the boat have started to slide, the arms need to be vertical or the wheels rub on the boat. Even if I tighten the bolt down this happens-Should I tighten and add epoxy glue, solder, Jb Weld,Elmers(kidding) other type ? More lock washers and glue? I know “I would just weld the G.D. thing’ No welder.
    Thanks

Maybe include a picture of the unit you are using might help us with ideas.

Solder won’t hold anything. How much weight does it need to support?

Use JB Weld or a 3M 2-part Epoxy. Whatever epoxy you choose it is paramount that you choose one made for your application (ie steel to steel, steel to plastic, etc) and that you clean and prep your substrate. So many people don’t clean their bonding surface and that is going to be your major reason if it fails. Recommend brake cleaner followed by a wipe with IPA and a clean rag.

If I’m envisioning what you’re describing correctly can you just pin the arms in place with a bolt or cotter pin?

Found out my neighbor welds! When the boat, battery, Tmotor and gear are in there gotta be at least a buck fifty. JB weld is plan B, Bolt idea is good too. Hard to believe I haul all this by myself but then I get to these beautiful lakes with unpressured fisk and I’m glad-oh plus my comfy boat is up on blocks.
