Glow Spoons! Lindy vs Northland

Last year I tried the Northland glow spoon and boy them things really disappointing me even before I got on the ice. Not much glow, the sticks wouldn’t stay in the spoons and the action was sub par at best.

I got a bunch of these new Lindy Glow Spoons and these things out of the box are legit! They actually do a much better job with the sticks, MUCH brighter, and something I noticed is that they’re made of a crankbait type material. I tested one in my pond and with the lighter material the actions is on point with a slower drop and more flutter.

I really think Lindy came up with something good on these things.

Anyone else check these out yet? I can get some comparison pictures later today.

I just saw the lindys at Cabela’s and I agree with you completely. The northland wasn’t all I had hoped for. The lindys looked way better.

Was disappointed in the Northland spoons too. I’ll give the lindy ones a shot this year for sure.

I’ve noticed that in general with Northland products. That was the only rattle spoon I would buy for a time. Now I will look at everything else before them.

I really think they come up with some of the best concepts out there, but their execution and quality has been a disappointment for some time now. They are one of the main reasons for my post asking for smaller tackle companies. They seem more worried about making a million “exclusive” colors for Fleet Farm and Reeds and wherever else.

I think Lindy is smart to wait back, let Northland design something. Then in a year improve on it.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. Very cool products that almost always fall short of expectations. I’ll be trying to Lindy version this winter. I lost a stick on the northland version on the second fish…a dink Perch.

I actually did very well on the Tundra Tackle Firefly spoons last winter. Did killer on URL and it caught our only Walleye of our house during the GTG on ML.

Lindy makes a lot of good tackle. trying to put in new glo sticks was always too much of a hassle for me last year. Will try the new lindy version although. the colors look good as well. wont have as much time on the ice this year thanks to college.

Has anybody used the 13 fishing flash bang? it seems very familiar to the two baits that are discussed in this thread. anyways it looks like a slightly different take on the glow stick baits

Just picked up some Lindy glow spoons and Tundra Tackle Fireflys. Interested to see how they perform.

I too was duped by buying a couple of the Northland Glow Spoons. Basically a lifeless slab of metal with little glow.

The Lindy Glow Spoons look great. They’re made from ABS plastic. I’ll give some a shot, but mostly I’ll be sticking with my go-to: Clam Leech Flutter Spoons, which now are made with glow paint.

I got mine from Joe’s so I would assume most places with any respectable ice fishing stock would have them.

LOL, I just came back from Joe’s… I didn’t buy it, but bought some other stuff.
