I know one IDO member that got one this morning. Nice Tom. I’ll let him post if he wants.

I got out this morning, heard one distant tom, but then the same coyote came by me 4 times over the course of 2 hours. I’m sure he kept the turkeys away. He was always just out of range or I would have rolled him.

Saw three hens early morning. One came right in. Put on about 5 miles hiking around in northern MN. Sat down for lunch around 11am. Gave a couple clucks and heard a gobble off in the distance. Kept at it for about 30 minutes but he only responded a few more times. Then… 4 came right in to the decoy. The biggest was holding tight with two other’s so I settled for a this guy. First ever turkey!

Nice job Clown. Certainly you have a better photo than that though.

    The little
Dude and I have been out. Seen a good number of hens so far and some gobbling no toms close yet. This morning heard a bunch of noise out of nowhere and all of a sudden one flew across the field and over the blind. That was unusual

My boy got this one Friday morning. He put the birds to roost Thursday night and set up approx 200 yards away before light and they came out and visited him. His buddy shot at a bigger one in the same field with his bow and missed it.

I had this tom come right to the decoys at first light. Put on one heck of a display. We’ll be having an awesome turkey stir fry as well as making soup with this bird. Great morning!

Opening morning, Season A in southern MN.
Most of the birds we had roosted the night before came down and went the wrong way. After a few hours of running and gunning, we spotted this bird on a field edge. We got to about 70 yards of him and went to work with the some soft calling. It seemed like it took an eternity, but we got him to about 40 yards and I let him have it.

Worked our rears off for some Nebraska Merriam’s. Beautiful country and beautiful birds. The left bird is a Rio Hybrid

That is one trip I really want to do, I think in a couple years when my daughter is a bit older we will head out there.

My first bird taken with my daughter along. 6 Jakes came in and I could not pass the shot as she really wanted us to get one. Couldn’t have been a more fun hunt.
