I’d forgotten about Reel Weeds. A friend and I made our own out of Christmas holly and tinsel. May have fooled us but not the fish.

Great thread! When I was 16 I worked in a gas station and a number of guys had 2 cow magnets taped next to their incoming fuel lines. Gas was really starting to get expensive in the early 70’s so I guess anything that they thought would work was worth a try. Cow magnets were easy to get and cheap so WTH, costs nothing. I think my dad even tried it. You could get cow magnetics at a local beef processing plant or at the feed store in town.
When I was kid I thought that scent spray you could put of your lures was pretty cool. My uncle bought the fake weeds for ice fishing, but I never fell for that one LOL
