Anybody notice if the gills are present in numbers this year? Seems like they disappeared the last couple.

According to DNR studies you need to go to pool 4.

This is a fish that has been exploited up and down the river and has been over harvested. All panfish take a beating, as soon as word gets out there is a good bite going on.

I don’t know the answer, but I do remember the days.

You can say what you want but the bluegills and Crappies have gone down in quality and numbers where I live on the river.

I have only fished the river thoroughly throughout the past three years, but there seems to be plenty of fish over eight inches where I live. It of course helps if the water is high like it is now.

Haven’t seen the schools on the graph nor caught ’em pulling crawlers like I have in the years past, heck even used to get a few 10″+ pulling cranks.

That’s what I thought. Bummer. I liked to target them once or twice a year. That water makes for tasty gills. Some bodies of water are like that.
