Interestingly enough, was looking at the Yota website the other day and it doesn’t look like the offer the V8 in the Tundra anymore, just a 3.5 w/Turbo. Will be interesting to see how they fare over the next few years.

Yeah, I read that. The 5.7 L is a fantastic engine, but she’s a thirsty beast.

I was looking online at the Sequoia but the 22 models are out of production and the 23 model is redesigned so is not being produced yet…

Wondering what motor will be in the new model. Website only says 437 HP.

Going to have to get by for a while.

Sequoia’s have always run what the Tundra’s have (pretty sure they use the same frame, or have previously), so I would expect them to also go to the 3.5 turbo V6. My ’19 Tundra has the 5.7 and they are a thirsty one. The 3.5 has a little better sticker mileage, but not as much as I expected going to the V6.

Glad to hear you got a working vehicle again. As to the new Toyota turbo engine most of what i have heard has not been good. A lot of problems. If you were to go with a Toyota i would either get a vehicle with the tried and true 5.7L and 6 speed transmission or wait a few years for them to smooth out the issues with the new turbo engines

my 21′ probably averages 15 overall. i usually get around 17.5 in the summer and can be as low as 12-13 during the winter

Pretty typical for a natural aspirated v8. My hemi is the same with out tuning after I deleted cylinder deactivation. Now with tune I can get much better and so could the Toyota

I really like mine. I’ve had it since my truck has had 2,000 miles on it. After my deactivation I could only get 17 on a good day. Now with the tune I’m any where from upper teens to mid 20s depending on how I am driving. Some days in the right wind I touch 30. But I have a heavy foot so that is very rare.

As for the acadia, leave the big trailer and skiddy for the big truck and only pull small loads with it. Hopefully it lasts for you this time. Nothing worse then vehicle issues. We were forced to buy a vehicle due to a accident a few months ago and there isn’t any good deals to be had around mn. We traveled to Ohio for the best deal I could find.

Ps, those motors like to stretch timing chains so make sure you stay up on that as well.

Looks like the 2023 sequoia’s will be moving to the new turbo V6 engine and 10 speed transmission.

That’s about what I see in my Sequoia. Lucky to get 13 around town, 18 if I keep it under 70 on the highway, and 9.5 pulling a 5500 lb boat/trailer.

Glad it worked out. I have done a 2 different junk yard swaps on transmissions. You should ALWAYS at the very least, inspect them. One was great and the other needed a re-fresh. AAA sells them for a reasonable price.

I did a junkyard trans swap on my 2011 Ford Edge with 115K on it. Worked like a champ for about 2 months…Then the internal waterpump failed and flooded the motor. Didn’t notice it in time and the car is now crushed like a pop can… doah

Hi Grouse, it sounds like if you can get a decent replacement you’d keep it for quite awhile, it might be worth a call to “Gear Star Transmissions” to see if they have an option for you, they have a warranty of 3 years 100K, they are performance orientated so of course better everything inside.

OOPPS sorry I didn’t see you got it handled
