Did anyone here fish in the bass tournament on Big Stone last weekend? The winners had 5 bass for 31.75 pounds. Absolutely insane! Some guys said that could be the biggest 5 bass bag in the midwest. Not sure if there is any truth to that.

That would be a 6.35 lb. average. I would have to see that weigh in live to believe it. I’m not saying its not possible, but really difficult. I searched the DNR website to see what permits were pulled for Big stone lake and the only one shown was the MTT Walleye one.

It was a club tournament out of South Dakota side of the lake.

DNF. Flatten/RoerichMay 11, 2022 at 2:51 pm #2123666Damn. That is a quite a bag. Didn’t realize Big Stone has largies like that.
Michael BestPosts: 1235May 11, 2022 at 2:52 pm #2123667Here is the winning teams picture with their fish.
3 of the 5 fish appear to be very large. The other 2 not so much.Attachments:
May 11, 2022 at 2:58 pm #2123670Not sure there’s any reason to doubt that weight. No first-hand knowledge, but I saw one comment about the fact that the winning team might have picked the wrong fish to weigh for their lunker. That their largest fish may have been 7+. Could see that happening if they were so giddy about their total weight.
Michael BestPosts: 1235May 11, 2022 at 3:16 pm #212367414 teams had at least one fish over 5 lbs. That In itself is very impressive.
EW6Posts: 150May 11, 2022 at 6:34 pm #2123730Someone always has to be negative…maybe the scale was off a bit. That’s a lot of 5+ lb fish with seemingly none under 2-3 lbs based on all the averages.

FryDog62Posts: 3696brandmoneyPosts: 282May 12, 2022 at 8:14 am #2123813For the guys doubting it…I have no idea what I am doing bass fishing and its not hard to catch 4 pounders. The guys that actually know what they are doing don’t get excited unless they break 6. Last year or the year before it took 28 pounds to win. Most tournaments take right around 25 to win out there and that’s when the fish are post spawn generally. Our bass are built like cinder blocks.
May 12, 2022 at 10:44 am #2123879A lake that size with Fish like that – I’m surprised that its not on some of the major tourneys yearly list. If word of this gets out, I think it most likely will be soon.
Michael BestPosts: 1235May 12, 2022 at 11:30 am #2123909I seen a few pictures of some smallies from that lake. So they are in there now as well.
It’s been a number of years since I have fished it. But it used to get very green in the summer.
CharlesPosts: 1979May 12, 2022 at 11:42 am #2123915Oh its still a weed mess lake in the summer lol, But yeah its a awesome lake.
