Getting boat into the garage

I’ve been having issues getting my boat into my garage. I live in an apartment and the parking lot is tight. I was able to make it in once but a few if the cars weren’t in their spaces. The parking lot also has enough of an incline that I can’t push the boat in myself. I wanted one of the battery powered trailer movers but they are spendy.

I purchased a 2500 pound atv winch from Harbor Freight for $50 and mounted it to the back wall. It came with a wireless remote. For another $20 I bought soke chain and a few hooks that clip onto the boat. I can now easily get my boat into my garage by myself.

Pretty ingenious idea DT. Honestly if I lived in an apartment and backing a boat in that was that hard, I probably wouldn’t own a boat. I’d probably go for a kayak instead!

I made a removable mount for my pickup to load my 2 man shack using the same winch.

Cool. It can be very difficult to move a boat around. Especially by yourself.

Just remember to unhook it before you take off, the back wall will be missing LOL

Huge shout out to Deertracker as you inspired me to install my own DT boat retrieval system and it works as advertised. I upgraded to an MX 1825 and only have a 9′ garage door and thought I was good at backing up, NOT. Uphill and tight opening, got it in but lots of getting out of the truck to look. This makes it easy to get in and saves me lots of time. Thanks DT!

Have same set up, but I ran it to the rafters and use it to hang deer when we are butchering.

If you have a harbor freight winch, you might want to have a spare on hand

That’s a great idea. The only way I could get a boat into the garage would be to build a new garage.
