    Hi everyone,
Was hoping to get some help. I was watching a show the other day and they were using Lowrance Gen 3 on ice. They were mounted to the blue Genz box.

I have Marcums for sonar but Id like to use one of my Gen 2 touch units for the GPS functionality for Ice fishing. The RT 9 is just way to much coin for me. My question it…

What’s the best/ safest way to wire my gen 2 to a 12v 9amp battery. with out blowing it up…. What exactly needs to be done?

3amp fuse installed on the + lead from the battery.

You may also want to read up on the grounding issue for the touch screen. It won’t break anything it’s just it won’t recognize your touch of you don’t hook it up right. There were posts here a year ago about it. Other than the fuse on the positive terminal that’s all you have to worry about. I’ve been using my hds units (non touch ones anyway) on the ice for 5 years. Work great!

Be aware that you will probably need two batteries for a full day of fishing. The screen takes a lot of power.
