Geico Won't insure my Ice Castle

I have a motorcycle, an ATV, my boat and 4 cars insured through Geico. WHen I called to add an Ice Castle, they told me they do not insure them because it was designed to sit on the ice. If it was designed to sit on the ice, why is there a roof mounted AC unit? Now I have to search around and try to find a place that won’t rip me off. Any suggestions?

Call Justin at Water & Woods. Be sure to bring your ATV, MotorCycle, boat & 4 cars to him.

Feel free to give me a call gbfan10. I’ve got a few different markets that will insure wheel houses. Some of my markets even allow us to add them onto the auto insurance policy for a multi vehicle discount.

I called my insurance agent, told them I bought an rv style trailer and wanted to add it to my auto policy…provided them the VIN and whalla, it’s covered. They didn’t ask where I was taking it, I didn’t tell.

Hopefully you scrutinized the policy details that they didn’t ask where you’re taking it and that you didn’t offer to tell.
If by unfortunate circumstance it drops through the ice, they may very well say…you didn’t tell (or ask) about that coverage…sorry! cry

I’m not an agent, but if something were to happen on the ice I would worry they wouldn’t cover it. Such a big investment to risk it for me. I’ve heard quite a few stories of insurance companies not covering if they can use any excuse to get out of paying.

I had the policy on my utv “change” with one of those magical little junk letters that look like a term life insurance offer. Being both “OCD” and non trusting I opened it and read it. Sure enough no more ice coverage for my Kawasaki mule. Luckily my agent is my neighbor and he switched companies. I would have been pissed due to the fact that I only insure it for ice and public land use. What a racket!

I will have to look into that. They did not write a separate policy, but was added as a rider on both my auto and homeowners. Motorvehicle related issues are covered under the auto policy and contents, vandalism, fire are covered by my homeowners. They are all bundled together, but I will still look into it.
