Garmin acquires Navionics!

    Wow! I think it was last year garmin and navionics were trying to hammer out a deal, something similar of when garmin lakemaster did their thing, but it fell through. Well if you got the capital you buy it. Looks like Garmin is here to stay in the inland waters.
    With the ongoing efforts of garmin doing their own mapping and now navionics this is another huge push and great for us all.

    I’m cool with that as I’m a Garmin (53dv and 64s) and Navionics user. Will be excited to see how (if?) they blend the two.

    I’m not so excited. This might be the end of products compatible with HB and Lowrance.

    I didn’t think about that about that biggill, I take back ” great for all of us”.

    biggill, that’s a solid point. I’m so used to drawing/choosing the short stick, I immediately got excited because for once I picked “BluRay”.

    I guess we’ll have to wait and see how malicious Garmin is.

    It says in the article “we will continue to support Navionics customers” so hopefully they don’t go the way of Humminbird/Lakemaster. Good power move by Garmin
