Probably to late. Gas has or is going up to $4.09 a gallon today, saw several already last night and this morning. Search your area, some stations have not moved it yet. They claim it could go up another chunk soon and then drop back down. Just another thing to pay more for I guess.

That’s interesting. It just went down 10 cents by me yesterday.
Sure enough, there is a refinery outage that could cause a price spike
September 8, 2023 at 7:52 am #2223086I know some people that have gas pumps at there repair shops and they were aware of it yesterday morning. If you need gas trust me fill up now.
September 8, 2023 at 7:57 am #2223090Oh great spread the news as if this is the last tank of fuel we have to buy. People will be running to the gas station only to have to buy it next week again.
Get some toilet paper while you are they too.September 8, 2023 at 8:06 am #2223095Do people feel good after pissing and moaning about someone else’s post ? A guy tries to save somebody a few bucks by giving a heads up and some have to bemoan and belittle. Maybe that $10 saved will buy that TP… put your mask on.

I’m all stocked up but thanks!
September 8, 2023 at 8:50 am #2223105Get it now. I have heard you will be lucky to find it by next week.
I just realized my 32 gallon daily driver tank is almost on E, but thankfully I’ll just pull up to a barrel by the buildings versus get in line to pay over $4 a gallon. I will still have to run into town for the next pallet of TP though.
September 8, 2023 at 9:20 am #2223115I swear this country is going to poop.
A refinery outage is indicative of a country going to poop???
September 8, 2023 at 9:21 am #2223117I swung through Costco this morning and put a quick $100 in the truck while it was still $3.49/gallon. My truck now reads 719 miles til empty. Think I’ll be ok til after next week.
September 8, 2023 at 9:41 am #2223122The news said this morning prices rose 15 cents last 2 days. It has in Hudson. They said it is expected to go up another buck by the end of the month before the refineries switch to winter mix. That would bring it up to 5.00 a gallon. FJB.
September 8, 2023 at 9:43 am #2223123before the refineries switch to winter mix
My source says they are permitted to switch to winter blend on Sept 15.
As gasoline demand decreases and temperatures cool, retailers are able to switch to selling winter-blend fuel beginning September 15. While these winter-blend fuels are cheaper to produce, the complications of the switchover can result in a temporary bump in price.
September 8, 2023 at 10:04 am #2223125The Caseys I drive by on my way to work went up 40 cents since yesterday afternoon.

Its a sign there arent enough backups right? One refinery offline and everyone’s gas goes up? Makes sense to you only I guess.
I got gas on Tuesday paid $3.38 plus I had another $.21 cents off for rewards. The next day gas was $3.59 at the same station and yesterday it was $3.73.September 8, 2023 at 10:34 am #2223135Really no different than if a major hurricane comes through the gulf and knocks out platforms and/or refineries. Luckily that hasn’t happened, yet.
September 8, 2023 at 10:37 am #2223136I haven’t looked at a gas price in years. All I ever know is my truck is thirsty and it’s always around 150 to fill up.
September 8, 2023 at 10:42 am #2223139I’ll say it – thanks Brandon
And yes, I DO APPRECIATE the heads up John – thank youSeptember 8, 2023 at 10:45 am #2223142I usually don’t really care what gas cost either BC, but when it goes up 40-50 cents overnight that is insane.
Umy your welcome.

It’s insane for sure. Bend over and take it dry.

September 8, 2023 at 11:11 am #2223151Im sure closing multiple refineries in the last couple years has nothing to do with it…..

This exactly. The dam fuel never, ever goes down 30 to 50 cents at a time.
September 8, 2023 at 12:44 pm #2223177Didn’t OPEC do something, too? Usually one refinery down wouldn’t make that much of an impact…. however shutting multiple down does….

Because I bought gas that day and that particular station was 3.38 while the kwik trip down the road was 30 cents higher. I dont remember what my bill was either, but its easy to remember the per gallon cost. I drive by this station like 6 times a day and I always look at it. Wont affect me from not getting gas, but when I see one is way lower you can bet anyone would rather pay less than more.
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22551September 8, 2023 at 1:44 pm #2223189Isnt there a law that says they can only raise gas prices so much in like a 24 hour period? I thought there was. It just doesnt add up to me why the prices go up so quickly for 1 refinery and the fact its been offline for like a day. No way we have an impact from there outage yet. Its far too volatile.
September 8, 2023 at 2:03 pm #2223192I think the law is they can only make so much per gallon, maybe I’m wrong though.

Got ya, makes sense.
I either get gas for the daily at Costco or Sam’s so I just never pay attention to the gas prices at any gas station. And fill up the boat at the same station virtually all summer. Although, I do recall filling up the boat last week before Vermilion and thinking that a little offensive. I think Non-Oxy was in the $4.50 territory and the bill was over $200.
September 8, 2023 at 2:43 pm #2223197Wait, I thought we were all supposed to be driving electric vehicles by now?
September 8, 2023 at 2:52 pm #2223198when you have a debit card that kicks off at $100… that’s when you know its gone up. It’s been doing it periodically on and off the last 2 years…
