Gas Can fuel transfer pump – Help

    It would work equally well on my fishing boat putting the can on the gunnel.

    This is what I would do. Honestly I have never seen these contraptions before and they look so stupidly simple that it is a no brainer to get this over an electric one. Nothing to fail and those are really no faster.

    I have a battery powered one from harbor freight. Think it was like $10 last year. I have pumped about 30-40 gallons with it since and no problems. If the gas can is higher than the tank you can shut it off after it has started and the siphon will take over to save the batteries. Might be a cheap option to have with the shake siphon hose.

    You cannot siphon uphill. The fluid must flow high –> low. #physics

    Shaker siphons are great – only time they frustrate me is getting the last few drops out of the snowmobile. Simple hydraulics – Fuel level of the can being siphoned from has to be above the fuel level of the tank being siphoned into, or the bottom of the hose outflow.
