    Hey everyone,

Just had a quick question if anyone has been able to find/figure out if Garmin will sell a conversion kit that includes their new hole hopper PS 22 clamshell holder for the original panoptix? I have an original PS 22 in addition to livescope, but would love to convert my sv 73 and my already owned PS 22 with the clamshell as my hole hopping rig instead of the lx 6. Would be annoying to have to sell my already owned unit and transducer only to turn around a buy the same damn thing (albeit a few years newer) just to get the clamshell deal that seems apparently to just be a plastic lock system which could be added to an existing model.

    Thanks in advance!

Do you mean the bag and shuttle? The PS-22if Ice Bundle lists the bag and shuttle as “Small Bag, Base and Handle” looks pretty similar to this – https://www.garmin.com/en-US/p/543361

or are you talking about the plastic piece that clamps onto the transducer and the other piece that clamps onto the cord?

nvm, you’re talking about the transducer parts…honestly, with seeing how it works, I’d buy/make a simple pole system instead… I don’t see how you would stop the transducer from moving around in the hole and stay pointed where you set it…its just free floating in the water and not even wide enough to sit ontop of the hole…

The videos I have seen make it look like you are supposed to lay the piece in question up on the ice at edge of hole. I am not sure how that stops the cord from spinning, however.

I would think that how does this not spin would be on top of everyone’s mind and they have seemed to do poor job of explaining

Between this and eagle eye 9, seems there is an awareness of market potential for those who do not want to spend 3 grand plus and are willing to accept limitations – but maybe have rushed release and not done good job of anticipating / answering questions

    Good point on the pricing

There is also the ‘bulk’ / weight of the “traditional” units that the “alternative” provide an alternative to

Will be interesting to see where this all is in 5 years

Maybe the good old vexilar will do many just fine for awhile longer / keeps a lot of money in my pocket and probably catch just as many fish

That is absolutely true, but thats your decision based on Screen size, Battery size, Shuttle, etc

You can build a 7” UHD screen livescope Genz box shuttle that weighs 15 lbs and runs for 6-7 hours too…

I just think the technology tradeoff isnt worth the reduced pricepoint… to each their own though…
