Looking at the Garmin panoptics. What’s is everybody’s opinion on them? Fishing 3’ – 10’ backwaters. Are there any used or deals out there since they updated to Livescope? Thanks all

I have just the Panoptix not Livescope and it’s great IMO I haven’t fished much water under 8’ with it yet but I’m glad I got it and I plan on running it on my boat too. I got the ice bundle from Scheels.

I was always of the opinion that Panoptix was just fine and not worth the upgrade to Livescope, I completely take that back! If you are just fishing barren lake bottoms with zero structure in greater than 30′ of water, then Panoptix will do a good job for you in terms of showing fishing moving into your cone angle. If fishing any weeds or timber or other structure in 30″ or less water, then Livescope will be a game changer vs Panoptix.

The best example I can give you is let’s say there’s branch on the bottom of the lake where you’re scanning with fish swimming around in it. Panoptics will show it as a large red/yellow blob with specs of blue/purple mixed in with the blob. Livescope will show you each individual branch and each individual fish relating to the branch. This is a very similar result in the weeds as well…

If you’re scanning an area with zero structure and flat hard bottom, then Panoptixs will show you blobs and Livescope will show you much sharper blobs…

You can individually piece together a Livescope kit for $2,200 or less, DO NOT buy the bundles as you’re just wasting money on the terrible battery and pole you’ll end up replacing anyways.

Agreed—-the pole sucks don’t waste your time. It will aggravate you on the ice and no thought was put into it. Get a tripod mount like summit. Raising just one of the legs an inch makes all the difference on the screen
