I am looking at purchasing a Summit shuttle and bag for my Garmin 106sv Livescope unit. Is the XL bag/shuttle necessary or will it fit in regular bag/shuttle. Just don’t want excessive bulk as they are big already. Appreciate any input.

    Fitment Guide:

XL bag with Summit XL Shuttle for 10″-12″ Chartplotters
Large bag with Summit standard Shuttle for 9″ and under.

I run a 106sv, LVS34 and 32ah battery and they all fit fine inside the zipped up Garmin XL bag and shuttle. I’m not a fan of the 3D printed shuttles, small screws going into printed plastic used in sub-zero temps can have disastrous consequences….

Can you fit the white screen protector on and still zip up the Garmin XL bag?

None of the screws on my summit shuttle go into plastic. All of them have a square nut insert that they connect to. I have dropped mine in -25 degree weather from the tailgate onto the ice, and bounced it off the quad a couple times now and it is still great. That being said, I will be moving to a metal shuttle at some point as well just cause I want to try the BK that came out this year.

The nice thing for me is I have a printer and the ability to draw and create things so if something does break I can just print another one.

Yep, to clarify, my Garmin XL bag is one of the newer built ones (from a year ago) There was a rumor that the newer bags are built a fraction larger than the older ones, I don’t know that for sure, I just know I can zip my closed no problem…

Yep, for every story of nightmare issues, there’s an equal amount from owners that don’t have issues…Summit has a lifetime warranty on their stuff, so you have buyers protection (if you can get ahold of them) I personally know of some owners who had pulled out screws or a bag strap broke and the unit falls face first on the ice…I’m just a fan of the Garmin bag & shuttle.
