I am looking at adding a Garmin Reactor 40 kicker auto pilot to my rig. For anybody here that has experience with one, I have a question.

I have the option of tying it into my graph or installing the GHC50 display unit for it. I like the idea of tying it into my graph and saving the $$ on the display but am wondering about whether the digital display needs to be visible on my graph screen while operating the autopilot, or can I control everything via the remote and not have a portion of my graph tied up with the display. I want to be able to operate the autopilot and not be forced to have its info displayed on the graph screen.

Does anyone here know this answer?

    TIA – Tim

No it definitely doesn’t need to be displayed.

I also believe you can have it as a small “tool bar” on any or all of your pages (I’m not 100% certain, I have my Fusion radio as a tool bar and I think I remember seeing the auto-pilot as another toolbar option)

You’re going to love it! Another buddy of mine just installed one this weekend (I’m still rocking the TR1-Gold until she dies)

Thanks! That saves me $500 by not having to buy the dedicated display.
