Garmin Ice Bundle

Has anyone “customized” their ice bundle with a Echomap plus head unit?
I am looking at getting the Echomap Plus 7sv instead of the echomap 7 that comes with the ice bundle.
Though I am a little worried about run time being that it pulls over an amp per hour. When paired with the p22 I am looking at 2 amps per hour. Anyone know/have experience with what the run time would be on the 12Ah battery running a echomap plus unit?
Is one able to get the echomap plus 7 unit to draw less simply by adjusting the screen brightness or will it always sit at 15 watts?

Also with the standard ice bundle what is everyone able to get for fishing time with the 12Ah battery?

    Thanks in advance

I don’t have a plus (or the ice bundle), but turning off the active Captain WiFi and dimming the screen will drop your power consumption drastically. I never ran my Echomap 73sv CHIRP dead on the ice using the Dakota lithium 10ah battery.

Usage may be found by dividing the AH rating by the amperage flow. In your case 10 AH rated battery divided by 2m amps of current flow = about 5 hrs.

I would check with ammeter to get exact amperage draw with unit and Panoptix.
My PS 21 drew well short of 1 amp. My echomap chirp 92 sv also draws less than 1 amp. Actual measurement using sub 10 dollar ammeter.

Did you find any good Ideas? I have an EchoMap Plus 93sv and a Panoptix transducer for my boat already. I want to put an ice bundle together with a lithium battery. I was thinking of using the 12V output from my lithium car booster. It is a 20Ah pack and should work well.

Just hoping to see more ideas here. I don’t want to spend $399 for a Garmin ice bundle

I purchased the ice bundle when it first came out. I sold my 73 and added a 93sv ECHOMAP PLUS to my ice bundle. It is an AWESOME combination! I also use the 93sv in my boat to mark spots to come back and ice fish.

The battery that came in the ice bundle is an absolute BEAST of a battery. Im not sure on specific draw measurements, but I can fish for a solid 10 hours with my 93sv echomap plus running panoptix the entire time. I actually sold the regular ice ducer, because its useless when you have panoptix. My point is, I wouldn’t be concerned about battery life as long as you get the battery that comes with their panoptix bundle.

Yes, I think I found a winning combination after a few more months of looking and I was able to get power consumption reading from a gpsmap 9in.

I am going to go with a marcum lithium shuttle and run a echomap plus 7in with panoptix. No ice ducer.

I figure power consumption on the unit plus the p22 should come in around 1.5 ah give or take depending on how bright the screen needs to be.

Going this way save a ton of weight and gives the same size battery.
