Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows if/how you can set your sonar to see your bait when jigging or dropshoting?

I have the 73sv, and can see my jig in regular sonar setting. Just has to be in the area covered by the sonar cone.

Hello, are you using chirp sonar? and do you adjust any other setting, like the gain? Thanks for responding. I just got this unit so its all new to me, so anything you can throw my way would be appreciated.

Mine is a chirp unit, but I do not make any other special adjustments. I have an older Lowrance 334C at the bow, and it too will detect my jig when it falls within the sonar cone zone.

There are no specific settings on any sonar unit to see the lure. It’s all dependent on your individual setup. How, where, the angle of which the transducer is mounted, the water temperature, cleanliness of the water, bottom content, depth, the lure size and density, etc. Everything will have an impact on how your unit reads your lure. Some spots you will be able to see it on default mode, the next may require you to bump up the sensitivity, adjust the ping speed, etc., to get a decent reading. This requires knowing and getting used to the settings on your particular unit
