    1000% yes

If I could sleep in their I would. Spend most my time in winter in a heated garage. Just ask the local liquor store clerk.

Best house decision I ever made… go the next size bigger than what the charts say to install… Pay a professional to install it (DJ’s did mine), its not worth saving a few bucks installing yourself only to have your garage/house burn down due to a mistake, they are also a pita to lift and install unless you have the proper hoist tool like the pros do…

    Sweet setup !

What are others using for door seals? Standard ones just aren’t cutting it at our place.

I have new seals all the way around my garage door on the outside. I have yet to find a good option to double seal the sides and I am still looking. I double sealed the top of my 16’ garage door. No joke, the bass from my stereo would cause the door to move so much that light would intermittently come thru. I took some of the garage door seal made for the bottom of old wood garage doors and placed it at a 45 against my top of my garage door and wall. I used self-tapping pan head screws to attach it. It made a huge difference in the amount of sound that was escaping through and air. I still have light coming through occasionally on the sides. I am just not sure what to do with the track and wheels that are in the way.

I’ve slept on the garage couch many times. Most while being lazy and accidentally falling asleep and other times just going out there to relax, clean guns, shoot the bow, working on wheelers, and I find my self taking a short nap on the old garage couch.
Other times I’m in the dog house, and I just go out there to get away from the family

Any recommendations on brands that are good, or to avoid? Whopper Stopper loves his Modine. Other thoughts?

Modine and Reznor seem to be the most common. I have a Reznor, I had one issue with the fan motor after like the 2nd year and it was replaced under warranty. Since then its been about 10 years now without issue.

We have a high efficiency Lennox that was refurbished and installed in the garage for our new build. With relatives in HVAC it cost us a case of beer and some food to install. They recommended going this route versus a traditional garage propane heater that’s less efficient with parts that lack quality or are difficult to find. It’s easy to work on just up on a rack in the corner and you can do as much or as little with duct as you wish.

At our other place we had a Mr. Heater propane hotdog heater which worked fine, but you’re essentially blowing 20-25% of your heat out via exhaust and spreading the heat across a large garage is more difficult.

I went with a Reznor (Modine was my second choice) because they were one of the best in terms of efficiency & reliability. I also like that it had a separate fan relay I wired to my thermostat (maybe they all do?) so I can instantly turn just the fan on in the summertime and blow the hot air out of my garage quickly.

20 years on a Modine Hot Dawg. No problems.

In my previous house, I installed a Beacon-Morris that had a direct-vent exhaust, so you could intake/exhaust it out a sidewall, rather than thru the roof.

I just hang out in my neighbors heated garage and drink beer in there. Can’t hear the wife nagging over there

    Modine and Reznor

A Trent Reznor sounds way better than a Matthew Modine jester ….I’ll show myself out.
