American Flag came into view, WOW!!!

It was great to see that huge flag as I pulled in last night. I didn’t have much time to look around but they had what I needed. I have never liked cashers asking for all my information though.
Casher: Can I have your address?
    Me: nope
Casher: I need it for if you have a warranty issue.
Me: I am only buying fishing line, just lean on the key board.
    Casher: OK grin
It was not too packed last night around 5. When I have some more time I wouldn’t mind looking around the whole store. The staff seemed nice.

    Tuma,

I stopped in there to pick a few Christmas things up around that same time probably saw you over in the Fishing section.

Yeah, I am not sure the protocol for asking what info at checkout. I do believe they ask phone number (Possibly for Good Sam Discounts) but don’t know about the rest.

I appreciate the thanks for the info from some of the very active members of the site, I am not giving away company secrets or pumping the the thread with sales pitches, just letting people know it is a different ownership and way of thinking. Pricing and Service is the priority of the corporate office and really its 100% up to you if you want to go or not.

Thanks for the info Marc, and will just echo the previous comments that it’d be great if the EP location re-opened!

When will the website be up and running? With no stores on this side of town, that will be my only way to check them out.

To think you cannot control where you spend your own money, is very naive… who told you that… the GO pundits ? Let’s see after that BIG flag wears out… how big the next 3 are, then you will see the motivation, Perkins will reign again. The CEO did do something very dumb regarding politics… or he would not have apologized for it. Good luck.

Marc, here is somethings that will turn me off if I go there. I absolutely hate this about other stores.

No you can’t have my phone number.
No I don’t want to save x % by signing up for your credit card.
No I don’t want to donate x to x charity.
    No I don’t need a cookie.

I don’t need you selling my info to anybody. And when you tell me you won’t I won’t believe you because other then selling my info you have no need to have it.

I pay with cash. If anything I should receive a discount for you not having to process a credit card or risk taking a bad check.

Begging for money even for a charity is bad form. Besides, I don’t trust that the money goes anywhere but into the corporate bank account. Just to much bookkeeping for me to believe otherwise.

I’m a big boy. If I forget something I will come back for it.

Oh, heres the biggie…..teach your cashiers to count back the change and put the receipt in my bag. It’s hard to juggle the change and put my money away when you have the damn receipt to deal with. grin

Am I being to picky? Maybe, but those are all things easily handled. (well except teaching the cashiers to count)

I agree with you 100% on this. But my mom has to put the receipt into her purse right away and gets frustrated when they put it in her bag. It would be nice if they would ask “would you like your receipt in your bag?” or something.

BigWerm, I do not believe the EP location at this time is part of the reopening of stores. That could change as they are always looking for new locations.

Spoonbillslayer – I believe the launch date for the Website is around beginning of January.

I shouldn’t even address this as I try not to get into politics on forums, especially when it has nothing to do with me personally, and the politics thing was addressed before in previous posts. Is it not a good idea for executives to mention there personal beliefs, probably not (See Chic Fil A among many others)… but if you think you only shop or spend time at stores that share 100% the same personal beliefs as you, whether they (executives) have said something public or not, you obviously are sorely mistaken. In Fact, I can guarantee you there are some very high level executives of this very website/tv show that do not agree with OUR President views, did not vote for him or dare I say anti-2A. But you still have no problem putting a ton of money in their pockets with all the website clicks and tv show viewing.

As far as the Flag goes, He has these size flags at Camping World locations as well… where he can get approval from the city. So I have no reason to believe the size will ever change.

Dutchboy, I do agree with you on the register stuff, unfortunately I am in the Merchandising part of the organization and that falls under Store Ops. I do not think they are going to be shoving credit cards down everyone’s throats but they probably will be pushing Good Sam Memberships which is a really good deal anyways. You can make up your Yearly membership in 1 purchase with the everyday savings you get with the membership.

Thread is kind getting off the rails. So I will leave it at that.. You can PM me with any other questions you may have and I will answer where I can.

To clarify the Good Sams memberships are good for the store or you wouldn’t offer them. They are designed to allow you to compete with other stores by giving a discount AFTER they are in the store.

Yes, the thread is off the rails. grin

Nobody said 100% is spent with those who agree with your politics… it was said, you can surely not spend a dime with someone who openly suggest you not to. The FLAG at Camping World in Rogers, MN.

Good Sam is good for the store in terms of getting people in the door/returning and buying product, Right now a 1 year Good Sam membership is $27 and 2 year $50 and with the membership you get a lot of different things but in regards to Gander Outdoors specifically, you get at the very least 5% off your entire purchase (including Firearms and Ammo) and up to 10% in certain categories for every purchase.

Buy a $1000 gun and get $50 taken off that price with the Good Sam Club.. so the 1 time purchase savings pays for your membership, then you get minimum 5% or up to 10% off every other purchase you make for the rest of the year. This applies to everything in the store.

Should also note that there will be Good Sam only deals as well only for Club members throughout the year well above and beyond the 5-10% everyday discount.

Off the rails may not have been the best expression, I just wanted to give people some information on the store/company that they may be interested in knowing. Not trying to get in a politics fight or old Gander sucked at this and that etc..

Oh sorry, it looks like at various Camping World Super Centers where zoning regulations allow it. I guess Lakeville Zoning regulations allowed for this flag.

Camping World To Fly Massive American Flags At SuperCenters

I guess the point being, you said the next couple flags will get smaller and smaller and smaller etc.. I guess I don’t see that happening. but who am I to predict the future.

Im assuming you are addressing me here? To answer your question you told me that. Since reading your post is the first time ive ever heard or read that statement. Allow me to quote what I actually said:

“If you think you control where your dollar goes and you can align it with your political views you’re being ignorant.”

Good attempt at bending a statement ever so slightly to fit your argument though. Who taught you how to do that, Larry Elder? Blinders Off shock whistling

That is exactly what you said…. I CAN control that zero of my dollars goes to Gander Outdoors…. I can align it with the MY PILLOW I bought earlier this week. Sometimes it is too easy… I am ignorant ? I don’t think so db. LOL !!!

allow me to elaborate on what I mean so that you better understand.

What I mean by that is once you give your dollar to fleet farm for example, you cant control what they do with it. Maybe they donate that money to the wrong party. Maybe they re-invest it in the stock market and buy stock in some company that dumps their pollutants in your favorite lake for fun. You can control who you hand your dollar to but you cant control what happens to your dollar after it leaves your hand and the fact is, it goes to support a great many things you oppose. That is what I mean by you cant control where your dollar goes and it goes many places after it leaves your hand. Are you ignorant? If you don’t understand that then yes you are. I would return the favor of calling you your favorite adjective “DB” but you do a good enough job of showing the world that on a daily basis so no need. Have a nice day Glen

I think most posters here, know who ALWAYS comes across as high and mighty, know it all and even ignorant… I get enough PM’s about you already… LOL ! Thanks crappie55369 !

I had to google this to figure out what the big deal is. Here’s what the Camping World CEO said in the aftermath of Charlottesville:

“There’s no doubt that there is probably not many consumers in this country today that are in favor of what has been said in the last couple days, and if they are, quite frankly, don’t shop at my business.”

A protester with or without a mask on, causing/inciting violence is a thug.. whether they are Neo-Nazis or Antifa … Both = thugs.. I agree. Do you disagree with that ? Is there an alt/right and left ? (was waiting for the other one to pop in, glad to see you made it)

The fact that you’re boycotting Camping World and trying to steer this conversation to encourage others do the same, because of the quote I posted above, is amazing. Anyway, shop where you want. waytogo

Yup there’s some really good nazis out there. Upstanding citizens might I add. I can’t believe this ignorant owner of gander outdoors doesn’t like our country’s finest nazis and the good people that support them. What a tool. Merca! (Sarcasm)
