Saturday was a nice day, so Ripley and I gathered up the family and headed to Game Fair. Ripley enjoyed himself from the shuttle bus there all the way to the shuttle bus back to the parking lot. He always gets a lot of attention wherever he goes. We bumped into 2 other Spinoni, which rarely happens.
He’s a pretty good dock jumper–I know he won’t beat those that regularly compete, but he gets some pretty good air and distance for a big guy. Well, Saturday, he didn’t want to cooperate. I’m guessing it was a combo of a new dock and lots of distractions, but I couldn’t get him to jump off the end (he jumped off the side once and ran off the dock and into the water a couple of times. Oh well! doah
We went over to the duck retrieve, where I didn’t expect much because I have never taken him duck hunting, but he actaully turned in a pretty good time. Go figure!
Travis Mears trick shooting show was good, as always. The kids learned a bit about falconry and got up close with some hawks, which they enjoyed.
I ended up with a coupon for a free bag of Native dog food, which was well worth the price of admission. All in all, it was a fun day. waytogo

Let’s try a quick video here:

Glad you went and had a good time. Ripley’s a fine looking dog.

I hope overall attendance was good, this is a terrific event and it brings a great tradition to the midwest of gathering hunters, dog lovers, and others together for a great event. We go about every 2-3 years, the kids love it.

For years I have tried to time a visit to the UK to coincide with the UK’s game fair, which is an absolutely huge event that draws hunters (fox hunting), shooters, fishing enthusiasts, and others to one huge event. Someday…
