We have been going the last few years with our dog and plan on going again this year. Lots of people bring their dogs and there a few activities your dog can do, mostly different types of retrieving scenarios. I think most of those things are $1 each. They have water buckets and hoses spread throughout so you don’t have to worry about that. The only thing I’m kind of worried about this year is some of the paths are black tar and it’s supposed to be 90° and sunny.

Yes, I am hoping that next weekend is a little cooler. Ripley isn’t made for the heat.

I was planning on going Sunday with the pup but we may just check cameras and run the woods early in the morning and relax in the AC…Too hot for this guy.

Took the family and our GSP last year for the first time. It was a fun way to spend the day. On the fence if we’ll make it this year.

Hey there! Us GSP parents are a proud bunch, aren’t we?
Here’s our pup, Mackenzie Whistlebritches Hillary (aka Mack)

She’s 8 now and spends more days on the couch and corraling the in-laws’ barn cats than hunting since we’ve added a 3yo and 9mo to our family.

Agreed! Ripley wouldn’t win, but we still have fun with it.

Great photo of Reagan! I love how these dogs look so similar, but each with their own uniqueness.

Say, where is the Game Fair anyway? I think Billy might be off next weekend and I feel like we should try to go this year. I hear a lot of good things about it.

At Armstrong Ranch Kennels in Ramsey. If you’ve never been there you can either drive around the houses near the kennel and a lot of them sell parking in their lawn. It’s cheaper though to follow the sign for the Lion’s park (something like that) where it costs $5 and a bus will bring you to entrance. Dogs are allowed on the buses.

    Edit:
Also remember to print the $2 off coupons before you go: http://www.gamefair.com/2018-Dollar-Face-Final.pdf

And the dog registration forms: http://www.gamefair.com/dogregistration.html I can’t remember if they actually check vaccination records or not, best to bring a copy.

Sharon, I’m sure you and Billy and Fritz and Remi would really enjoy. This has been a popular event for many years. Ron Schara (and Raven) usually is the host and makes an appearance at various times.

I think you would need to register your dogs but you can do that when you get there. There is a form on the website you can complete before you get there.

Good Lord ! its funny how the liver and tic GSP’s seem to follow the same pattern.
Jamin, your Mack looks a lot like my Gracie who turns sixteen this year.
she still plays as hard as she can for about ten minutes vs the two hours of yesteryear.
She is still a hunter through and through as she has to hunt every dang blade of grass, bush, tree, corn stalk, etc. every time she is outside.

this is the look I get when I tell her she cant go to the airport with me,lake,or its too cold to play outside.
her sighs and pacing is enough to drive me nuts until I give in.
wouldnt trade her for the world and I am going to be devastated when she goes to the happy hunting grounds.
I rescued her when she was four years old.
I apologize for hijacking the thread.

I think Ripley and I (& maybe the family) will be there Saturday morning before it gets too hot, so if you see a guy wandering around with a scruffy, whitish dog that makes you say, “what the eff kinda dog is that,” say hi. wave

Exactly how I met Buckshot today! rotflol
We had a good time. Ripley was popular. He ran some of the dog events–shoot, that dock is a lot higher than he’s used to. It’s very heavy on the waterfowl–not so much my cup of tea, but definitely a fun morning.

The waterfowl section is growing every year. I guess that’s the sport that has lots of “stuff” to sell. I don’t duck hunt either but we still go usually to wander around and do a few dog events.

I tried to buy one thing, but their credit card reader wasn’t working (and I didn’t have enough cash), so I had to leave it there.

The trip was well worth it for me, though, as we stopped in the Native dog food (which is what we feed Ripley) booth to chat, and a rep handed me a coupon for a free bag of dog food! yay

We didn’t get out there this year. We had plans on Saturday and after being outside in the heat on Sat evening at the Twins game, we just didn’t feel like being outside any more than we needed to on Sunday. 82 degrees is just to @#%^& hot and yes I reserve the right to complain about the heat! I’m not a summer person by any means. Fall is the best and I actually prefer no warmer than 60 degrees. Maybe 65 if I’m out in the boat fishing. But 70s and 80s+? YUCK!

Yeah, we went early to try to avoid the heat. He cooled off in the water a few times, but by about noon, the heat was wearing on him.
