How’s your rigs holding up?

Getting harder by the year to not pull the trigger on an outfitter.
Mr. beads I have owned 2 a outfitter 150 and a guide 14 probably not as high end as you may be looking at. but here it goes both boats mind you the paint was very chippy you even looked at it it would come off meaning the net hitting it or even a rod I went through 2 small cans of spray paint trying to keep the chips fixed. I’m very fussy and baby everything I own. If you get a bear trailer with it get some black paint you will need it in one year every weld started to rust and the trailer was nothing great at all. The high points probably comes with a Yamaha motor had a 25 and 20 and a 30 ran great no issues ever. The 150 was like riding in a bath tub in a 5 mph chop you would be wet. I had the 150 for 6 years the guide for 2 years. Probably the higher end ones will be better but I just traded the 150 in and I will tell you as I have heard from others even with the Yamaha motors they do not hold value as well as a Lund, Crestliner, not starting a debate but around here it’s almost a novelty to see another one on the lake. With the market the way it is I got a good price for my 150 that’s why I “dumped” it that being said in a regular market I would have taken a bath on it. Trying not to be negative they were good boats and I already miss the 150 a little as it loaded way better than my new Lund. Also the hardware meaning the latches screws in the wood etc. the latches all broke in the first year.
Sorry trying not to be a negative Nelly but just some insight.
I personally would not be in a hurry to get another one. In total over the years have owned 20 boats some just little 14 footers and usually a flag ship in there also. The wife agreed when we were looking at the Lund when we got the price for G3 my wife with out hesitation said get rid of it. Owned a 14 foot 1978 Crestliner that was more than half the boat the G3 was.
Feel free to Pm if there is something else on your mind.
Nope, that’s exactly what I’m looking for, thank you for taking the time to type that up.
V177 outfitter has been staring at me for few years now. But figured you get what you pay for to some extent with an 18′ tiller only going $18k

What kind of horsepower are you looking for? I know you have talent, if you have some time and a place to work consider building one. Buy a older hull, recondition it both in & out. For the outside a wrap can cover up alot of ugly. Once you have the inside done go down and buy a brand new motor and hang it on. My guess is you get a quality customized boat for a lot less than a new rig & it’s built your way. Just a thought
Mr Beads
Have owned 2 G3 over the last 10 years the last being a V177T
I traded it for a winshield boat last June and spent way more $$$…I’m at that age and my wife was tired of tillers. I agree with Mrpike the trailer is the weak link in the package and would pay for an upgrade. Like anything else it is about the budget. For the money I do not think you can get a more functional boat. I owned mine for 4 years and had no complaints about the boat, even though it was small the 2nd live well in back was nice just to hold bait or a fish or 2. Lots of storage and I liked the large deck up front. Was not wild about the rod storage at first but I came around to it. I used it on all the bigger walleye lakes, it rode well in rough water and like most tillers I’ve been in your prob gonna wet at some point. The 60 hp pushed mine 27-31 mph dependent on how many people 1-3 and the hole shot was fine. I had a 80 lbs Terrova which was more than enough and could fish a number of days before needing a charge, wave wackers and a graph front and back. Could easily back troll at 1.3-1.5 with no wind and 1.7 forward.
Hope that helps just as an FYI I think I paid 21k out the door and got 14.7k on a trade.

Wish I had the time for that. I’ll be adding another bedroom and bath downstairs this year.
My dad just took an older 16′ and did just that tho. Real sweet setup for fraction of the cost.
That’s great info krh. It looks super functional, which I really like at their price points.
Currently I own a 2018 V177T Guide with 60 hp Yamaha. If I washed a little dirt off the sides it would look brand new. Every thing has worked exceptionally well. I have no issues with paint or trailer. I do not recall pulling it down any dirt roads though….
I have heard a few complaints about the trailer which surprises me a bit. It is not the beefiest trailer but then the boat is not that heavy. I have never previously owned a bunk trailer and I was a little leery about that. It requires a bit deeper at the launch to unload over a roller trailer. The boat loads like a charm and on perfectly which has always been a struggle with my boats (Lunds) with roller trailer.
The G3 is not as recognized in the midwest such as Lund or Alumacraft which resale will have a smaller market.
Add on splash guards, transom and bow mount trolling motors and you are all set. My last boat was a Lund Tyee 1850 and except for big water my G3 is much more of a fishing machine.
I do miss my wide gunnels and track system though…..
No 1 boat that is perfect for everything. You can launch in the skinnest of water with bunks with a z-launch cord no need for a dock either (no I do not have stock in the company!)
