I just downsized from a 22-foot bay boat. I live in Mobile AL on the GulfCoast. I can go freshwater fishing, brackish or saltwater all in one day if I desired. I am pretty much a brackish water and nowadays in calm waters. Stay off the bay as well as the barrier islands in the gulf. I wanted a boat that I could climb out of and launch and put back on the trailer by myself. Launching is the easy part. I used to be able to do it by myself until my mid 60’s but those days are gone.
I know it is much safer to go with another person and more enjoyable as well. Plus, you never know what could happen on the water.
I am curious as to whether anyone has had an experience with this boat. It is called a bay boat, but it really is not. It is great for rivers, and it can take a few small waves, but I would think it would beat you to death and be very wet. The hull is not deep like my blazer bay 2170. I loved the boat but too much boat for me. I will end up selling it. Purchased it new in 2006 and was always content with it. I used to go every Saturday until my wife got cancer, and my parents started having issues in their early 90’s. Not complaining but did not fish for over 5 years. I at least ran the boat on the water every 2-3 months just to make sure the motor was good and only use ethanol free gas. Had it service regularly for oil changes even though they did not always need it since I only have 523 hours on it. Most of my spots are only 15 and maybe 20-minute runs. The kind of fishing that I do is very similar to bass fisherman. I am strictly artificial, and I fished for speckled trout, red fish, white trout, largemouth bass and flounders. I hit an area fish for 5-10 minutes and it is either happening or not. Pick up and run a few minutes to the next stop and so on.
It is a yamaha product and since skeeter is as well, I am adding it to the forum. I did not see a G3 forum
