Just bought Fury XL with 60 hp Merc. Biggest boat for me. My concern is travelling in shallow water. Can I trim this too high while going slow. Is there a high limit? I just don’t know and I don’t want to fry the motor.
    Thanks…

I’m no expert but usually trimming up will lower the a$$ end of your boat depends on what speeds your talking?. I’m sure someone with a little more knowledge will chime in.

Yes you can. Watch for two things, first is to make sure that the stream of water coming from the back of the motor is still just as strong as when all the way down. Second, look at where the water inlet is on the lower unit. Keep your motor low enough that the inlet does not suck air.

As said above, if you open up the throttle you will push the boat down some. But if you are that shallow you should be lowest throttle and just in gear until you get deeper anyway.

You will get used to it as you spend more time with it.

Is this a tiller or console fury? I have a 16′ Pike with a 60hp Merc. My trim up has a switch that stops it at a position safe to operate the motor. To raise it higher there is a trailering switch. My Merc also has a kill switch that keeps it from operating in the high tilt position.

With out more info on your specific motor I can’t tell what specific features your motor is equipped with.

You may want to hunt up a manual for your specific motor, or check out an online parts catalog.

Thanks for the replies. This is a windshield boat with a 2018 Merc. I believe there is a hi limit for trim if it running above 2000 ish rpm. I guess I was wondering if there was such a limit for slow speed, shallow running? I just didn’t want to raise it too high out of the water and lose cooling while running.
    Thanks again.

If it were my rig, I would be temped to just try what you want to do. Make the sure that the tell tale stream is still running and check the tell tale temperature about every 5 minutes.

If the tell tale stream is to warm to but your hand in there is not enough water flow. Tilt the motor down a little.

    Good Luck.
