It will be my first trip to Lake Vermilion ever this year. We are renting a houseboat with a group of ten. Just wondering if anyone can point us in the right direction because we only have three days

depends what you are fishing for and what activities u want to do. most people pull houseboats up to free campsites sometimes on the lake so u may want to look at how far of a cruise it is to where u are going to park/camp your boat. let me know what you want to fish for and i’m sure some1 can give u more help

i know that time of year muskies are in the bays. we have been fishing musky in early june in the bays and caught some big 25-28in eyes on musky baits. if i were fishing for walleyes i would fish shallow with lindy rigs. the parts of the lakes i would look for are the narrows or the transition areas outside of the bay. hope some of this info helps or hope somebody else chimes in to help u.

Will you have fishing boats too? I will be up there 5/17-5/21, remind me to post some info before you leave.

Fish will be anywhere from 3′ to 40′ of water. We fish water with shallow bays that has deep water nearby. Any large point or narrows will also concentrate fish that are moving from spawning areas to early summer spots.

If I had a houseboat and only 3 days (assuming you are going out of Vermilion Houseboats in Pike Bay), I would go NE out of Pike Bay and find a quiet spot on the N side of Pine Island around Bear Creek.

ARE YOU RENTING FROM VERMILION HOUSE BOATS IN PIKE BAY? IF SO PIKE BAY IS ALWAYS A GOOD PLACE TO START WITH COOLER WATER TEMPS. IT SHOULD BE A GOOD SPOT TO LOCATE FISH. I FISH ALOT WITH ROACH RIGS NORMALLY 4 TO 5 FT SNELL WITH RED HOOK. THE KEY NORMALLY IS TO KEEP YOUR SPEED DOWN. VERMILLION IS A GREAT LAKE BECAUSE THERE IS SO MUCH STRUCTURE SO MANY POINTS & ROCK PILES THAT HOLD FISH. MY THEORY IS ALWAYS TO TRY A SPOT FOR 10 TO 20 MINUTES AND MOVE ON IF NOTHING IS BITING BECAUSE THERE ARE PLENTY OF OTHER SPOTS TO FISH. HOPE THIS HELPS
