    Leaving next Saturday for my week on the big V. What’s working as far as live bait currently. Still a minnow bite for walleyes?

    Hi JBB,
    I’m still using minnows with good success, both on jigs and slip bobber rigs. I haven’t caught a fish on a leech yet this season, but I know some others that have done OK on them.
    The smallies are hitting on spinnerbaits and plastic and I’m getting a few on cranks as well. I haven’t fished for pike yet but they should be going well on
    stickbaits, cranks, spinners and spoons.

    Thanks I’ll be staying on Norwegion Bay and usually do pretty well on mutiple presentations as the bay has quite a few different structures. I don’t fish much for northerns up there and my daughter wants to try it this year. Ever have any luck using dead smelt?

    Also how’s the panfish bite? Are the sunnies & crappies in the emerging weeds?
