Want to give the Big V a try

I will be in Ely the week of August 8-14 and although I typically fish on White Iron, Garden, and Farm lakes, I have always wanted to try the Big V. Where should I put in? Are the smallies biting, and are they shallow or deep? What section of the lake is best for Muskies? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I am not an expert on the lake bout the last couple of times I have been up there I trolled rattletraps in 8-10 feet of water. Caught just about everything except a muskie but that is always a possibility.
Will be looking for a report.
