I spent the past 2 days on lake vermilion fishing with some friends from forest lake. The boat traffic has picked up on the flip of a switch and the chase for walleye gold is on! The camp sites are mostly full as of yesterday and the boat launches busy as well.
Our report is that we managed to catch plenty of eater fish in deep mud pulling a lindy rig. The bigger fish started to show up shallow around 8 pm and then we switched to cranks/bobbers/ and jigs.
Tonight I’m back up in Ely for 2 nights of hog hunting on my favorite ” big fish” lake! We are on an all out assault on the iron range and these walleyes don’t stand a chance against my husky jerk. Keep safe on the busy weekend and as always good fishing to everyone.
