I fished 2 different lakes for a short time today with little to no success. The first lake was 200 acres and shallow producing just 1 small pike but the ice was clear and strong at 3.5 inches.
The next lake was a 3000 acre lake with islands and structure but the wind was brutal and we left after an hour catching 2 short walleye. The ice on this lake was 5 inches thick but had big pressure cracks running across the lake.
I am starting to be confident in walking to mid lake structure using caution and a spud bar. I’ll keep everybody updated as the ice grows and I’m able to get on fish!
