My friennds Blue and musky Matt joined me in some pan fishing yesterday. The weather was nice and we even found a few fish.

The water temp. ranged from 52-58 as we were fishing a very shallow lake. We casted 1/8 to 1/32oz. jig heads with small twister tails shallow and deep. The result was finding pike shallow and walleyes deep….not exactly what we were after but still fun.

Half of the fish we caught were banged up prettty bad either from spawning or bigger fish. Just a little note as to the stage of the spawn up here. We fished walleye opener up here the past2 years and the ice had just came off the lake…..this year it’s been off for a while longer than typical.

I think today i’m going to head out and actually get some crappies. I don’t know what I did wrong yesterday but for an off day, it wasn’t too bad!

For a lunch break we decided to go on a little boat ride up an inlit river that runs into a few lakes…..boy was there tons of suckers up there!! We saw thousands if not more suckers between 12-20+ inches. So many of them in there my friend blue was able to snatch 1 bare handed…

heading out fishing now for the night. i’ll be sure to report back some pics!

Thanks a bunch for the hot tip! I was thinking about asking for some info as there are so many lakes up here, it may take a bit of time to get them figured out and dialed in.

We hit birch lake tonight for about 1hour then it started to rain pretty good. Landed 1 sucker and missed 3other bites. Its pretty tough fishing when no place has any live bait around town…

There are a few good bait places in Tower. They dont have anything yet, or is the 18-20 mile drive not worth it.
