Had my first Lake Vermilion experience last week and hopefully it will not be my last. A group of 9 guys who have never fished there before and we had a good time. Caught most of our Walleye in 23 to 30 feet of water which was a suprise to us. Also most of the fish seemed to be relating to the softer bottom and not on the rocks. Did not catch many slot fish, mostly 12 to 16 inch males. Jig and minnow or live bait rig and minnow put most of the fish in the boat. We caught a few Perch and a few Northern Pike as well. We had beautiful weather (almost too nice if that is possible) sunny skies and light winds. Vermilion is a beautiful lake full of bays and islands and made for a great trip.
