Otter Outdoors doesn’t produce a designated “Sleeper House” But I don’t tell that to Garrett!!

The little man with a big passion for fishing simply was wore out mid-day on a recent fishing trip to Rainy Lake. Great fishing with you pal, and my side still hurts from that snowball…….Fastball I received when picking up Looking forward to next time!!

Biggest perch was a fat 12 inches mixing in with the walleyes and pike.

Nothing says “great job” like a snowball to the bean, right BK?

Chris, I’ve noticed you’re catching more perch this year than I can ever remember in the past. You targeting new areas or is the perch pop. on an upswing?

We’ve fished more on the mud flats this season (nice observation). Originally by choice and recently as an only option as our mobility has been severely limited over that last couple weeks. These bigger perch have always been something I’ve wanted to target. I believe these fish will be found in large numbers in march, but of course we are usually chasing slabs during that timeframe. Rainy Lake won’t get the attention as a “Go To” perch factory, but I assure you these perch are high caliber fish and pretty girthy. I am focusing some attention this spring on finding these fish……..IN NUMBERS. As a reminder to all anglers fishing mud remember most panfish are digging out larvea. A pounding of your presentation on the bottome with a micro-slow lifting action out of the cloud can be deadly on many area lakes. This is literally the best Larvea Rise simulation an ice angler can produce and perch will simply “Dig it”

Nice job Garrett, I was wondering how you and your dad did up there. Did you let your dad catch anything?

We had a blast fishing Rainey with Chris. Unfortunately ice conditions were not condusive to travel. Chris did the best he could to get us on fish. Garrett once again proved to be the stick in this family as dad only managed 4 sauger’s the whole weekend, and the longest was a whole 9 inches. These fish were all caught in the last couple of hours which did keep me off the skunk for the trip. Thanks Chris. See you in July.

Yeah it was a pretty tough go. We were virtually pigeon holed to one spot with the terrible travel conditions. We managed some eater walleyes and saugers a few pike, few perch and a dandy Pout. Biggest walleyes was 21 inches. Actually marked a lot of big fish, but sometimes marking fish is a bit different from Catching big fish.

    See you in July John!!
