Think small in BIG COLD

When inclimate weather is upon us sometimes anglers need to downsize presentations even when targeting large fish. This year we’ve noticed on many outings that when fishing adverse weather conditions a smaller minnow will often take the prize. Today we laced up a 3/16 oz. H20 Precision jig http://www.customjigsandspins.com in my favorite Fire Tiger color combination. We tipped the jig with a smaller fathead. Action wasn’t too bad considering the cold snap. We managned some bigger fish and also some nice eaters for a fish fry!!

    One fish to the other…

“You’re gonna eat that one too, arent’cha?!”

Cool pics, Chris. I was thinking about you and your customers today and hoping you found a way to keep the fingers and toes warm.

The fish was perfectly fine and so were we. Fish was outside for 10 seconds. We have a standard procedure we follow precisely when taking all of our pics inside and out. Thanks for your concern. I will pose one question to you Huskyjerk. When the State of Minnesotaa trained Department of Natural resource Large lake Biologists clip a large section of the upper tail off female walleyes caught in test nets during the spawn do you contact them?? I might assume cutting this noticeable portion of the tail of per your concern with my pic would be deadly to these big fish. We catch several of these big females and crazy enough they all seem pretty spunky yet.

Finally I couldn’t help but think overprotective conservation jabs out of one side of your mouth seemingly contradicts this earlier post of yours on a seperate thread??

“We sledding today? We are gonna run out to the spear house for a while. Stop on out??”

How do the big fish release after being speared??

    Chris

I wasn’t trying to start anything, I was following your post earlier in the day, and remembered you commenting on the cold, and pictures was all. I wasn’t trying to imply anything. Sorry man. I am confident that you especially wouldn’t do anythng to harm the fish.

As far as the spearing, I have never speared anythng in my life. And yes catch and release isn’t much of a possibility. I had never even seen a spear house before that day, and was curious to see what it was all about.

    Perfect HuskyJerk.

Apparently just a misunderstanding then. Carry on!!

Thanks for confirming and if we are lucky enough to tank tangle today we will again be very careful with our fish!!
