Back on the water after the Christmas holiday. Congratulations goes to one of my great customers Joe on his Personal Best walleye while on the hardwater!! 27 inches and very heavy. The large walleyes seemingly enjoyed a fantastic fall of eating as they are looking very healthy early in the winter. The big fish parade continues to march on!! Great day on the ice with a nice batch of eaters, slots, big fish and the “ONE THAT GOT AWAY!!”

Joe put the hooks to……SOMETHING of the large variety. I hustled over to his Otter to witness drag SCREAMING in just a straight steady pull. This my friends……….DIDN’T LAST TOO LONG a snap off close to the rod tip which we presume was cut by the ice. I know it is still haunting Joe, but I PRESUME he hooked into a tank Rainy Lake Pike. Still as anglers we all wonder was this the elusive 34 inch walleye. Sorry Joe!! Just had to say it

Ahhhhh yes. The one that got away. And ever so tantalizing when the species is a big ole fat “?”. Funny thing tho ~ It can make a fisherman for life.
