I recieved the much anticipated phone call from local taxidermist Bob at Gannon Ridge Taxidermy last night!!

    “He’s done!!” “NICE!!!”

It seems like a mere eternity since last Novembers mid-day encounter with this magnificent 162 Green scored deer. I’m excited beyond words (Tought to Believe ) that my personal trophy will forever rest in the Daze cabin of dreams to watch IDO fishing shows the rest of his hanging days. This deer wasn’t the prototypical “UP NORTH TANK” deer, but rather had a moderate build seemingly using all the nutrients you can find in pine bows and buds to nourish this beautiful chocolate rack for a young deer!! Thus instead of “Tanker” or “Beast” I’ve elected to nickname this deer the “Ladies Man”

My good friend and fellow “Getting Lost in the Northwoods” deer enthuisiast handed out a dirt nap to this heavy 145 class 10 pointer a few days later!! What a fun year boys!! He named this great Northwoods Stomper “Nooner”

Both of our deer were shot dead on Noon!! So pack sandies in your backpacks boys!! Especially if hunting a full moon period like 2009!!

Its a very nice rack with symmetry. I can only imagine how it will look once mounted on the wall of the World Headquarters!

That is definitely a “KODAK” moment!! It was a pleasure helping you haul that trophy out of the woods and all the way to the Taxidermist. We will have to start looking for this big boy’s Grand Pappy…..you know that there is a good chance he is still cruising around somewhere in the Northwoods.

for those of you not lucky enough to see this deer in person…to put it in perspective…when he pulled in to show me you could see the horns sitting higher than the box in his truck…what a spread!!!
now you have to beat that this year….good luck!

Hey Phil that was a thrill of a lifetime for me. My dad asked if there was anyone whom I thought I hadn’t shown the deer too! LOL!! Wild deer in the Northwoods growing to that magnitude without any supplemental help are rare, and special animals. I feel fortunate our paths crossed that day. I plan on spending 2 solid weeks looking for his grandfather this November!! Little excites me as much as Deer Camp with my dad and good friends!! I bet my buddy has his climbing stand location picked out 5 miles from camp this year!!
