Mid-July wouldn’t be a time I’d suggest anglers come to target Slabs, but……….Who knows sometimes!!My typical combination trips “Eyes/Donks/Wings” usually start in September running through the end of October. I Cleaned a few Crappies for a meal today, and couldn’t hep but notice a bumper crop of freshwater shrimp in all of their stomaches. Anglers might want to take special note of that if coming to fish Slabs this fall on the Mighty Rainy Lake. Hmnnnnnn Brown Flu-Flu’s anyone?? The Biggest Rainy Tankers went a modest 13.5 inches by Rainy Lake Standards. Nice Crappies no doubt, but by the “Big Easy standards”…….Hot oil bath candidates.
