Reserving a spot for the vacation I am about to take. We (wife and I) leave Madison tonight, headed up to Wausau to drop off the dog, then to Duluth area to spend the night. Saturday am we will travel non-stop to Sha Sha Resort for 7 days of fishing. Will post some reports as the trip goes on. Tight Lines!

You will love Rainy try some spots east of the Brule and in the Brule as it has some current, nice rocks as you head east out of the Brule past the markers should be fish on those reefs. Then look at your map find a reef that comes up out of deep water you should do fine going east.
Olsons Reef area is also a good spot to target.
Also Sha-Sha Resort is very nice be sure to try one of their Long Island Teas if thats the beverage of your choice.
Good Luck, Enjoy

June 27, 2010 at 7:43 pm #882993started on ericksons today. Marking fish in 20-25 and in 30-35 not sure what they are but they don’t seem active. Fished until wind was too high to hold with trolling motor. Decided to go pike fishing. Boated two one pushing 40 and another 5 follow-ups. The quality of these fish were phenomenal. They have been eating good!!! Chris I sent you a pm with my phone #. Hopefuuly it goes through I am on my mobile. And for thr record the long islands are awesome, two of them and a few bud lights make for a good nights rest.
arklite881southPosts: 5660June 27, 2010 at 8:30 pm #882997Awesome Pike Nic!! Yes your findings with the walleye activity is spot on. This should pass shortly. Fish are a bit sluggish with the Mayfly hatch. You probably noticed remaining husks floating in the water as well as big pods of flies emerging on your graph. We’ll have to throw them some curveballs tomorrow. I’ll check my PM!! By the way Cheryl and I along with a couple of our friends were out at Sha-Sha Last night. We were in our friends “Rocket Ship” Sha-Sha Long Islands = Plenty good!!
arklite881southPosts: 5660June 27, 2010 at 8:37 pm #883001Didn’t receive the PM Nic. Give me a call at 218-286-3159 to discuss tomorrows plans.
June 28, 2010 at 4:07 pm #883156Sounds like your enjoying your trip Nic and the weather looks good for fishing.
Your in good hands with Chris you will be on fish. Its always nice to get a guide one day on a new lake note the spots he takes you to.
June 29, 2010 at 9:45 pm #883524Had a solid monday with Rainy Daze. Today we went out and tried a few new things. Had some bait stealers and one small taker. Ended up with 3 eaters and one 18″. Had a “tank” as daze calls it examine the skeeter but them swim away. Might not have been the 30 plus I was looking for but was definitely pushing towards it. First day with no pike, but uts nit iver yet!
July 1, 2010 at 1:51 pm #883938Found some smallies on Wednesday. Caught a few 4 lb’ers and then they were gone. Planned to fish early today but watched the lightning storm from the cabin instead. Weather forecast for next three days – BREEZY
arklite881southPosts: 5660July 1, 2010 at 5:43 pm #884024Heck of a rain we had last night Nic!! Had almost 3 inches in our rain gauge. That will bring the lake up nicely!! Awesome job on the big Smallies!!
July 2, 2010 at 12:21 am #884095Fished 5 hours today. Not much to show but fly bites. Had a few takers but could not seal the deal. Had a monster gator follow to the boat. Had to be 50. Had a few other follows from pike. Hooked two fish I never saw. Working on gameplan for final day up here. Looks to be pretty limited due to wind forecast. Need a plan after a single fish did not hit the carpeting today.
arklite881southPosts: 5660July 2, 2010 at 12:19 pm #88416650 INCHES!! THAT MY FRIEND is what I’m looking for!! Yes that wind has been really tough the past few days. Surely it will die down on Saturday!! I’m going to have the girls whipping behind the Skeeter today on a tube!!
July 2, 2010 at 6:33 pm #884252Fished the morning today, spent half the time in the wind and the other half in protected bays. Had a few small eyes in the deep wind, but nothing worth anything. Shallow was game on today, boated 10, mixture of eyes and pike. Quit fishing at noon, done for the week, boat is on the trailer and cocktails will be flowing by early afternoon. It has been a slow week for the fish, but we did catch some quality. Learned quite a bit of areas, still have my lower unit, no cracked glass and 3 blades on the prop. Here are a few pictures from the week, can’t seem to get many of them to download, have to put the rest on when I get home.
July 4, 2010 at 3:31 pm #884415A few nature pictures. The scenery and wildlife was amazing! Kudos to my wife for getting some great shots over the week.
A doe and two fawns, A mother duck and her little ones warming themselves on a rock (it was darn cold that am, we are talking barely 40), and a 4 pack of loons.
July 4, 2010 at 3:42 pm #884417The other highlight of the trip was staying at Sha Sha. This place was excellent. Great docks sheltered from the big seas, with power for each spot. A great cabin, with a deck and gazebo, with a beautiful view looking out over Rainy and to the Canadian shores across the water. Sha Sha also has an excellent bar and grill “Fish Bones” with spectactular views out of the bar and off the decks, great food, and excellent long islands. The night life at Fish Bones was amazing every night of the week, but it was super quiet over by the cabins.
arklite881southPosts: 5660July 5, 2010 at 3:12 pm #884498Great pics Nic!! Cheryl and I both love Sha-Sha resort. The fishbones bar is pretty awesome. Glad you had a fun trip, and hope you make it up again soon!! You had a windy week no doubt, and even in somewhat protected big bodies of water like Rainy It can make it a bit difficult. Kudos for finding the silver linings in inclimate weather. When in “Gods Country” all days on the lake are awesome!! Thanks for sharing your pics of our area, and so nice spending a day in the boat with you 2!
