First off ive gotta thank Chris Granrud for putting us on some good fishing our second day of our fishing trip too rainy lake! without chris we would have been looking in the wrong places for fish for weeks pry! if your taking a trip north to rainy lake i highly recomend having chris take you out for a day or two and get you started!

after arriving early to international falls we decided too try the river and after some searching found some fish holding on a shallow rocky shoreline just above a deeper pool. we put 8 nice eaters in the live well and i also caught a nice 23″. we target most fish by pitching 1/4 oz tinsle hair jigs tipped with a fat head.

the next morning we met up with chris and took of across rainy lake in his new AWSOME skeeter! we started out throwing stick baits and chris right away landed a fat 37 inch pike. what a way too start and then soon after we had caught some 20 to 25 inch eyes with the same presentation. After sticking some nice fish we headed for deeper water too get into some eaters and chris put us right on a nice pod of them. we pulled our limit of eater eyes of this spot two days in a row with little effort and wow did they make for some delicious fish fries!

saturday we decided we would try for some crappies. we were fishing some sketchy waters full of hidden boulders witch we found with the bottom of the boat a few times throughout the morning! no damage luckily but denny had too jump in and push us off one rock pile that wouldnt give up its grip! we did find some crappies we ended up with just about a dozen of them but they were some fat bottom girls 4 of witch went 14 plus inches. we had tried a few spots with no avail when Lee decided to try and find an old haunt he had fished years ago so we went searching and found it, they were there. we all had a blast and cant wait to take another trip to rainy good people (chris) and scenery too die for, and of course world class fishing too be had!!

Thanks Chris and the rest of the crew for a great trip!!

Thanks Drew!! You guys were a blast to fish with. I started working ringworms on some of those transtional walleyes in a few different spots than we fished, and they flat out slammed them. Nothing better than a Rainy Lake fish fry I agree. Hope you boys can make it back up for a mid-summer or fall trip. The walleyes should really be on fire this summer and fall with our early water warm up.
