Found water temps as high as 58 degrees yesterday in back of the mud bottom bays while beginning my search for early season pike. I believe the Big Gators are going to have a tough spawn this year with the lower water to start it off leaving much of the prime dropping areas high and dry. This very well could cause the fish to bunch up in isolated prime cover. Caught 9 fish yesterday while tinkering around with the new boat, but nothing involved in the spawn cycle, and mostly smaller dinks. Biggest fish was only about 5lbs. Should start seeing the big females show up very soon should the weather continue to hold out. We’re getting down to freezing at night still and the water is peaking for a short period of time. Look for the Big fish to start ripping drag the first part of next week in my estimation with some regularity!! Pack the rods boys!! We’re just about GO TIME, and there is going to be some AWESOME GATOR ACTION before the fishing opener!!
