Plastic Envy

I know I should probably keep it Zipped as I’m not sure I’m even supposed to whisper this secret line up that I was fortunate enough to test market from BfishN tackle over the past several days, but I’m not that great on keeping secrets. I’m certainly not trying to cause any anglers to come down with a case a raging case of “Plastic Envy”, but this design is literally LETHAL on big tank walleyes. If your an “Eater Walleye Guy” no need to bother. The small seemingly have a tough time wrestling this bait out of the big girls grills. Nuf Said!! “Keep the toes out of the water kids!!” Seems Bob at CJS/BfishN tackle is starting yet another feeding Frenzy below the surface!! Dang it Bob!!

Not sure if they have come up with a name or anything for them yet, But I was thinking something like “Not Fair” or “Barely Legal”. Surely they will come up with something far more sophisticated, and darn right cool. Does it really matter though?? I’m pretty sure we just referred to them as hey……..Throw me the good stuff.

“#@&%$” is the name~Walleye is the game!

The photo’s don’t show the uniqueness of the plastic!

It’s almost like a cross between a ringworm, ringer and a paddle tail. Although I didn’t get to fish with one, watching it in the water is pretty cool.

This model is 4 inches. Not sure if there will be a smaller model or not? Just know enough to be dangerous!! My thinking is there likely would be a nice market for a 3 inch version as well.

Ha! Pete helped me field test some of the initial prototypes last fall before there was an official name for this product line and we dubbed them “makeshifts.” Can’t even really remember why. I do know that the makeshifts out fished regular ringworms by a noticeable margin ever day we tested them last fall. Fun stuff for sure.

The 4” design to be released to the public this fall has a much deeper profile / chest than a ringworm and a much better tail design in my opinion. This design is the river plastic I’ve dreamed about for over a decade and it has come together beautifully and might actually work better than even I had hoped.

Unless the walleyes were to jump into the boat, measure themselves and pose for pictures before tail flipping back over the Skeeter I’m not sure they could have performed any better.

Can’t deny Cal…….Does seem somewhat unfair. Guess I’ll just have to live with this Freak walleye Injustice!!

All kidding aside I feel FORTUNATE to be able to take part in such superior fishing day in and day out. I pinch myself on a daily basis while finding myself surrounded by such large quantities of trophy fish. Believe it or not we actually do have to work finding hot patterns at times, and the fish aren’t actually just big and dumb as we like to pretend. Not being born and raised in this neck of the woods, or having my grandfathers remains sprinkled on the lake I believe I have a different sort of appreciation of the caliber of angling available here in Borderland. As a kid I couldn’t sleep for weeks in anticipation of our walleye fishing trips up north. As an adult I still can’t sleep before heading out on a guide trip. That can be a problem with a full plate of Fishing Excursions!! LOL!! I can vividly remember watching the Lindner boys on the weekends purchasing every walleye angling book/video produced to try become a more accomplished angler. Thus being a part of the In Depth Outdoors Pro Staff has been so much fun for me. When becoming a licensed captiain a few years back a boyish dream collided with a modern day reality. I try to never take the fishing we experience, or my fortunate love of my occupation for granted. A terrible day fishing is superior to a fantastic day of work in many JOBS. My Passion for the outdoors passed on to me from those making the time to take a kid fishing will never be forgotten, and being able to return the favor by taking them fishing is a sweet deal. At this point in my career nothing is more gratifying than sharing the boat or ice with other fishing addicts like myself!!

    Hey Joel,

I think your going to love the bulkier Body tapering to a big tail. It is my personal belief that with the slightly wider mid-section that it gives a up and down swim in the current along with aggressive tail action. Can’t say I swam down to find out though, but seems to make logical sense when you look closely at the design. Course……….WHO CARES if it catching fish!!

    I’ll echo Daze’s comment here.

The wider, almost minnow bodied profile of this bait coupled with a ringer style tail makes it a top producer in my book

    Hey Pal,

No doubt you’ll love them as much as the big walleyes do. If you’ve utilized Ringworms or Paddletails with success better tie yourself into the boat slinging this line up. I don’t have any experience with the Wipers, but would bet they would be dynamite for them as well. What are your GO TO colors there??
