Now I’m NOT an eagle expert, but get the chance to view at close distance eagles everyday as they fly by our front windows working the open water in the bay. Check out this battle that took place a short distance from the deck yesterday. Apparently the 2 eagles aren’t that fond of each other. Very fun!!
Chris, I can’t tell the coloring from the pic …but mature Goldens are nearly 30% larger than Bald’s and much more aggressive. They are chestnut brown with yellow mottled coloring…. Immature Bald’s are very dk grey with whitish mottled coloring. The mature and immature from different family groups(Bald) will squabble also, especially during mating season.
I have been putting many hours a week into studying birds for Ornithology, and this could go either way. I think its a juvenile Bald though Chris, just judging by the extent that the white covers the underside of the wings.
Either way that is a sweet pic!!!

Thanks Bill!! I’m going with your Educated opinon there. Pretty neat watching those eagles!! I do know the Ducks are pretty nervous in the bay!!
