As there are many Hardcore anglers that make up the core of In Depth Outdoors I thought maybe I’d point something out. Personally you’ll never see me miss many days in May, September and October fishing. In my personal opinion I believe the biggest and baddest fish are much more vulnerable to anglers during this period. Makes sense to me to fish for big fish when they are programmed to bite. Of course the May time period has big fish relating to spawning grounds and devouring swimming treats in many shallow protected waters which can drastically shrink 220,000 acres of water to a much more manageable pieces for fisherman to target these fish. May is also a month that doesn’t see high volume on the lake as the Chillins are still getting smart in school. There is a real chance that I’ll be setting up a Houseboat trip with Billy for my group in the very near future for May fishing. It is my understanding that RLHB (Rainy Lake Houseboats) might offer a Off-Peak discount for Ido Members in the month of May? Maybe Billy can define off-peak (discounts/dates) as I bet that the Off-Peak for the Houseboat industry may very well be Peak for hardcore fisherman. As I’ve mentioned before last year we made 2 houseboat trips, and I honestly believe there isn’t a better way to experience Rainy Lake, and Voyageurs National park than in one of these floating condos. I believe economically it is nearly a wash when a few families/buddies are involved, and the day to day travel if greatly reduced. Parking yourselves in close proximity to fishing destinations makes it possible to get far more fishing in, and far less back and forth traveling.

Hey James……I know your probably knee deep in slush right now, but what do you think?? May Houseboat Monster Pike/Walleye/Slab beatdown??!! I’m in if your in!!
