Two very hot buttons with me as of late. Had the pleasure to share the Otter with Dave Marquart from the Skeeter Boat Center the past couple days. Beyond solving some world problems in the fishhouse Dave and I had 2 days to talk about rigging my Skeeter Boat. I have to say I have NEVER in my life experienced the customer service as I have purchasing this important piece to my guide service. I believe I will be in the perfectly matched boat for what I tackle day in and day out. I felt so comfortable with the whole process from A to Z I am just JACKED UP, and absolutely floored with customer servie the way it should be!! I personally will be offering free test rides in my New WX2100 for any Guys up in this neck of the woods this summer who would like to check it out for themselves.

We landed some beautiful Crappies, and though I edged him on the big slab with my 15 3/4 tanker I’ll say Dave held his own quite well with some very nice fish.

Great fishing with you Dave, and I CANNOT wait to see that Skeeter coming up the road in April!! I’ll be holding a coming home parade!! I will admit I was a bit sad seeing the old Daze Casket leave her home as she’s been very good to me over the past years though. I look forward to doing battle with the mighty Rainy Lake with the Newly Designed Daze Fish Casket!!

Chris are you setting up your boat with the new Yamaha offshore series 250? How about the electronics?

    Hey Blackbay,

I’m not putting the new Yamaha HO on the boat as I’m thinking that it might not be available until June though it is getting rave reviews. I’ll run the ole reliable 250 Yammie 4stroke!!, with a Yammie 4stroke Kicker. I’ve decided on rigging with Humminbird on dash, transom and bow. 101 Terrova!! I’ll be utilizing the Lakemaster chips, and am absolutely fired up at the new capabilities this Humminbird/Lakemaster powerplay will offer me as an angler. Being able to highlight a depth zone to clearly define the water I’m focusing on is ridiculously cool, and on a body of water that fluctuates like Rainy Lake the ability to adjust my depths so my map readings are actually accurate is a tremendous value as well as safety feature. I’m new to Humminbird, so not I’m not an expert yet. With that being said it took 5 minutes to realize this is cutting edge stuff capped off with unbelievable innovation of Side Imaging!! What an advantage for all anglers. You suppose side imaging might be valuable for locating crappie schools??, Big hanging pike??, Smallmouth bass?? Rock piles, Submerged Isolated weed beds?? WOW!! VERY EXCITED, and I’ll be more than happy to take you out to try the stuff out!!

Oh by the way…….WELCOME TO IDO!! Glad to have you!!

I have side imaging on my ranger at rainy and you will really like it. The biggest downfall is you spend all day playing with it looking at different structure and you forget to fish.

    Hey Paul!!

Nice to hear from you pal!! Hope your getting that Ranger all shined up for this summer. Hope we can share the boat again for a day. I am really fired up for the side imaging, and maybe we can trade notes on how to best utilize this new feature in electronics. When are you planning on coming up to your cabin?? I’d love to take you out for a ride in the new Skeeter, and maybe we can smack a big pike or two one afternoon. I bet your getting as antsy as I am!!

I probably will be coming up every other weekend for awhile. I left the boat up there so not getting it shined up yet. One thing I couldn’t believe with the side imaging is the number of large logs that are on the bottom in many different areas on Rainy. No branches on most. Wondered if they are from logging days and they just sunk. Not sure how long they stay preserved in the water, maybe they aren’t that old.

Isn’t that interesting Paul. I cannot wait to get a better view of whatever is down there. How can this not make you a little more educated on the waters we fish. As Rainy lake is the ultimate Structure fishermans dream I see Side Imaging a huge advantage. Plus………..COOL!! Hey Paul if you ever need any help throwing things in the water…. when your up give me a shout. I know at times there are definately 2 person jobs!!
